Black pour thin khaki/tan head .... aroma is of licorice, roasted malts, dark fruits and light chocolate .... taste is of licorice, ashy/smokey and dry oak, dark fruits and a tart sour flavor ..... finish is dry oaky with a lingering bitter bite .... lots going on here and the abv hidden well .... definitely has Akevitt aspects to it .... interesting stuff ... mildly astringent

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Acidic bottle at about two years old. Rating should be taken with a grain of salt, because itís obviously not a fresh sample, the bottle has turned and itís a sour, acidic mess. Smells and taste like grappa and aquavit with an herbal juniper note. Sweet and soft with fine carbonation and creamy malt. Strangely herbal with some unpleasant white grape. Buyer beware. Barrel treatment fanboys and sour stour disregard the score, youíll loooove this one.

Bottle, many thanks to OleR. Almost black colored beer with small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, espresso, plum brandy and other dark fruits, alcohol. Taste, starts roasty with coffee, dark chocolate, followed with Akevitt and tartness. Alcohol is well present. Interesting and very tasty beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by Cuso. Imperium strikes back. High expectations set. Lets go. Aroma strong strong chocolate, fruity, roasted. Almost black colour, dark brown head. Taste is chocolate coffee with moderate herbal sourness mixing in. Controversial, the ageing in oak did not go well here IMO.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
50cl bottle. Pours pitch black with a very small brown head. Lots of woody notes regarding the aroma, roasted grain and hints of wine. The taste is really oaky and provides a warm backing. One also gets chocolate along with wheat, a very special blend. Light/medium mouthfeel, average carbonation. Nice Reserva version.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma was tart like a gingerbread but still roasty and dark. Pours dark brown with very nice white lacing. Taste is almost tart with oak taking center stage. Great roasty coffee chocolate behind it. A little odd but damn tasty.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sample from bottle at Haand Festival 2013. Black body, small beige head. Roasty aroma with oak, pears, vanilla and chocolate. Taste is very roasted too, yet sweet, light acidic tones, chocolate and wood, slightly wineish. Thick body, lasting warm aftertaste of grapes and chocolate. A veru nice beer, which Iím glad I had early on.
