COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Double" (imperial) wheat stout.
This imperial really strikes back. From a strange country far, far away, comes the only Imperial Wheat Stout in the known universe. Once again, the ’Hand’ brewery - four guys brewing in their spare time, on an absurdly small scale - boldly goes where no brewery has gone before.

Pours pitch black with chocolate brown head. Vanilla and chocolate in the aroma--think hot fudge sundae with vanilla ice cream. Flavor starts sweet and chocolately, with a little roast smoke and coffee bitterness in the finish. Really, really good.

Imperial stout brewed with wheat. Makes for a very interesting combination. The wheat seems to have contributed in a good way to the texture of the beer. Overall, dark, roasty, tasty.

Pitch black pour, fair sized mocha head. Dark chocolate, raisin, molasses sweetness in the aroma. Bakers chocolate, raisin, dark fruit, dark coffee bitterness to balance things out. Full body, oily mouthfeel. 2013 bottle.

An Imperial Wheat Stout I had years ago but whose rating I lost. I do recall I had it on tap & was impressed. Bottle Batch 671 brewed in October 2013, served in a snifter. Pouring a deep black with ruby highlights when held to the light and possessing a rusty tan head of foam that dissipates quickly. It has a fruity nose of raisins, smoked maple, dark chocolate with a bit of roastiness to it. Think a really nice dark chocolate cake. Incredibly full luscious mouthfeel, supremely creamy almost like marshmallows! That’s just nuts. The taste is sharply sweet, some oxidized sherry notes, big bitter dark cacao in the 70-80% range, a hint of fruit and quite a lot of heat burning it’s way down my throat while the finish gives me that smokey maple character. Really good stuff though I believe I like it better when I had it on tap at the old Tadg’s.

Barwa czarna, nieprzejrzysta. Piana dość obfita ciemno beżowa i drobna. Generalnie przyjemny RIS.

Earthy grassy boozy aroma, pours black with a small diminishing light brown head, heavily hopped nutty bread flavour with spice/pepper notes, sticky full bodied stout, Excellent

Rich dark berry aroma, alcohol does come through a bit. Roastiness and coffee are also there. Gorgeous looking beer, surprisingly long lasting head for the high alcohol. Taste is not as complex as I was expecting. Dry, alcoholic and does not hang around or give much away.

Bottle, thnx to Palme. Pours a pitch black beer with a minimal amount of beige head on top. Aroma had loads of chocolate, caramel fudge, slight roast; basically you’re typical Imperial Stout aroma done right. Flavor is sweet, malty, some burning boozy notes, chocolate and roast in there. Soft carbonation, silky mouthfeel. Decent, textbook Imperial Stout.

Nearly black and oily with a beige head of tight foam, aroma of licorice, wood, smoked, roasted malts, alchool; start sweet with a good body (oily), wheat, then roasted malts in the end, with a light bitter finish. Very Nice, but a bit overcarbonated for me. (bottle 50 cl / bd feb-2012 / bbf feb-2015 / batch #449)
