3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A muddy brown beer with no head. The aroma is sweet and dominated by caramel, but also contains some lesser notes of wheat. The flavor is wheaty combined with caramel, and is slightly roasted. The mouthfeel is very carbonated. I’ve had better Dunkelweizens, but thanks to Haandbryggeriet for supplying this to RBESG.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAY 9, 2007 Bottled at Lorry, Oslo. (#3) Brown, with a light tan head. Hazy. Aroma of cloves, banana and acid. The co2 level probably hides some of the flavors. Banana, cloves and some roastiness is detectable. Medium body, but way too fizzy. Will probably have to rerate this one later on. (051123)

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at RBESG grand tasting, August 2005. I thought this was a pretty decent, quite full bodied dunkelweizen, but refreshing too (although the run of heavy sweet doppelbock type beers that preceded it may have influenced that impression). A bit murky looking, but the estery and clove notes are all in place, underpinned by a caramel malt character that is not too pronounced. Good effort.
