English: The old farm breweries of Norway made special beer- dark, hearty, earthy beer like this classic porter - for weddings, christenings, funerals or any occasion at all.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours near black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has dark fruits, roasted malts and bitter chocolate with a hint of booze. Flavor starts with bitter chocolate and roasted malts and has a hint of dark fruit, barrel and light spice.

Bottle shared by Derek- thanks! Pours black w think brown head. Nose is lighter than expected: oak, malt n some heat. Taste has loads of, rich malts and the barrel lends a unique herby oakyness

500ml Bottle. Pours a deep brown/black color with a small head that fades to bits of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, dark fruit, chocolate, spice and a bit earthy. Taste is a blend of roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruits, some spice and bit of wood from the barrel aging. Has a subtle bitterness and the finish is quite dry. The body is quite full with a rich velvety texture. The 10% ABV very well hidden. The flavor becomes more robust as it warms. Very good beer for the style. great way to end the day.

5/04/2011: Hand bryggeriet Barrel-Aged Porter (Norwegian Porter Aged in Aquavit Barrels)... Aroma: German chocolate diluted with coconut water with a splash of Kisrchwasser. Appearance: Black color, frothy broth head. Flavor: Dark chocolate cocoa, smooth alcohol, barrel char, plenty of alcohol that adds a nice strength and warmth without becoming burning or stringent, milky sake notes, cigar in the finish. Drinks like a cigar. Palate: Medium, strong, but smooth. Overall: Excellent brew! Delicious!

500mL from Vendome Liquor Beverly Hills. Inky pour with larger, complete tan foam. Excellent retention and big swathes of lacing. Nose is volatile detergent, smoke, steak, orange perfume, tar. Taste is quite dusty and acidic, raw bitter cocoa but also paper and water. Not the greatest.

Bottle. Deep brown/black body. Creamy, tan head. Aroma of wood, smoke tobacco, roasted malts, chocolate, moss. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter and lightly to moderately acidic. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Green wood, tart taste along with chocolate, raspberry and citrus. Fairly boozy in the finish. Different and interesting and I enjoyed the first six ounces, but it got tiring after that.
