4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 sulawang (419) - British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 20, 2012
pours coffee black, big creamy foamy head. Tastes of mellow roasted coffee. 7/10 sweetness. Chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and a mildly alcoholic finish. Medium-high complexity, high depth, good transitions, great carry, good drinkability. It drinks somewhat sweet and hits pretty hard.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Stew41 (1580) - Woodend, AUSTRALIA - JUN 4, 2012
Pretty flash stuff. Light touch early with light sweet roast and chocolate but builds progressively. Fruits get darker and the alcohol driven aniseed kicks in. Never gets over bearing and almost dances across the tongue, relatively of course to the 10%. Very impressive.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 arkotramathorn (41) - Eau Claire, USA - JUN 2, 2012
Pours a fizzy black with a thick head that quickly dissolves. Aromas of chocolates and roasted nuts and coffee. Starts almost dark fruits and chocolate, a hint of brandy I’m thinking as well. A nice overall alcohol burn throughout the drink. Finishes with a very glorious coffee, by far and away my favorite coffee flavor I’ve gotten while drinking a porter or a stout. Kinda fizzy and watery in a way though, I don’t normally put this as palate is something that tough for me to rate but in this case it is a bit fizzy for a stout/porter.

Jet black pour with light brown head which stuck around. On the nose I get almost a fruity oak. Taste is same with a great distinct oak flavor with a raisin type note. Not the greatest oak aged beer IV had but still decent.

2012-04-11. Black body with a large foamy brown head. Pleasant aroma, rich dark malt, light fruit accents, lightly tangy mild barrel character. Fruity character gains a bit more alcohol, and lightly herbal touch - perhaps that is the aquavit? Flavour is similar, rich dark malt base, mild barrel accents have a lightly tangy fruity character to it. Mild bitterness, particularly in the finish. 7+ Smooth medium to full bodied palate suits it. It is relatively simple up front, with the subtlety of the barrel growing as it warms up a bit, particularly in the finish and aftertaste. Quite enjoyable. Bottle aged approximately six months, from Premier Gourmet, Buffalo

500ml bottle. Pours a very tar like deep black colour with a thin wedge of tan foam. Looks strong in the glass. Roasted malt is predominant in the aroma. Super sweet with lots of chocolate flavours coming through. Smooth creamy velvet texture wih lingering chocolate aftertaste. A good beer to sip.

9/2/11 from nbutler.
orange tinted dark porter color with a small tan head.
the nose is tart!... vinous tartness, wet wood, toasted nuttiness, roasted grain, chocolate, caramel, spiciness and peanuts all show up as well.
very interesting flavor... balsamic vinegar, grass, minerals, barrel, savory business, herbs and a ton of weird haandbryggeriet hard to describe things. the aftertaste is chocolate and tart red wine.
it doesn’t feel at all like 10% and the acidity helps keep it drinkable... and perplexing. methinks this has gained an infection of some sort.... but hasn’t gotten worse for it. 8/4/7/4/15
