COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Haandbryggeriet version of Vuur & Vlam.

Fyr og Flamme is a dry hopped IPA in the US style with an exceptional aroma and hop flavours. We use a very special blend of 3 American hops that produce lots of hop flavours. We produce living beer, not pasteurised or filtered.

Bottle. Has a very hazy dull amber colour with nice medium beige head on top. In the fruity aroma I sence some cat piss, grapefruit and floral hops. The flavour also has a nice hop touch and is also fruity, along with some smoke. The proper malty body works very well with the hops, and it’s a bit dry in the end. A medium+ bitterness which lasts, and has a slick and soft mouth feel. This is a beer that has a lot of everything in every step with a fantastic balance and smooth bitterness.

Bottle. Hazy orange colour. Tall, slightly offwhite head. Aroma is hops, lots of tropical fruit and some pine. Taste is more of the same. Tropical fruit is present all the way with a nice bitter finish. Easy to drink, but not simple. Love this one!

Bottle. Pours hazy deep golden with a fuffy white head. The aroma is highly fruity and bit tart citric. The flavour is light plastic but has lots of fruity hoppy notes. Bitter fruity finish.

Bart (2941) - Brussels, BELGIUM - MAR 11, 2012
Draught @ Craft Beer Co., London. Hazy darker amber coloured beer with a dence but small white head and practically no carbonation. Smouth hoppy and floral hinted aroma with some sweeter touches. Full creamy palate. Finish is bitter, smouth dry and dence hppy. Not bad, rather heavy which means it is not easaly drinkable.

Another hop soup from Haandbryggeriet: a very cloudy, medium amber body with some large grey particles partially suspended in the liquid. The large, creamy, off-white head is very long-lasting and is finally reduced to patches of foam and additional build-ups at the walls. The aroma is sweet and… Wow! Absolutely amazing! It’s intense and extremely fruity with grapefruit, peach and pineapple, all perfectly ripe without any overly sweet overripe notes. Just perfect! Also herbs, pine and a faint touch of sweet vanilla. The taste is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter. I really like IPAs with such a firm sweetness to back up the bitterness. Fruity flavours, grapefruit is the most dominant. Long-lasting resinous bitter finish, with the sweet fruits lingering on long after the bitterness has left the palate. Medium to full body, oily to creamy texture, soft carbonation. A fantastic beer! I wonder if this is even better than Nøgne Ø’s IPA? I definitely need to taste them simultaneously some time. Maybe tomorrow.
[50 cl bottle, batch 431, enjoyed 1 month after bottling/11 months before BB date, from Vinmonopolet Grønland, Oslo]
