The Haandbryggeriet version of Vuur & Vlam.

Fyr og Flamme is a dry hopped IPA in the US style with an exceptional aroma and hop flavours. We use a very special blend of 3 American hops that produce lots of hop flavours. We produce living beer, not pasteurised or filtered.

500ml bottle. Heaven in a glass. Big rich glowing orange colour and a thick crown of beige foam. Sweet floral hop aromas with a citrus background. The flavour is intense, thick and chewy in the mouth. The perfectly crafted beer.

Bottle 500ml. Masterpiece, with great balance. Aromas of butter, caramel, and hints of grass. Taste starts sweet, with bitterness taking over for a very long finish. Palate is creamy, and full bodied. Amber, with a frothy head.

On tap at the Bishops Arms in Copenhagen. Dark orange with a large white head. This is one of the most unique smelling beers I have ever smelled. Very sweet, citrus, oranges, mangos, pineapple, pine needles and banana both in the aroma and flavour. Thin body that works well with the hops. Smooth, creamy finish. Fantastic.

500ml bottle. Pours a hazy mid-copper colour, with a large off-white head which offers excellent retention and lacing. Strong hops dominate the nose, with spicy pine and grapefruit being prominent in the mix. There is a hint of buttered toast playing a supporting role. Powerful, prickling hops come in straight away, offering buckets of lime, grapefruit and pine resin flavour. These are followed by smoother and stronger malt body than most IPAs, with caramel and toffee playing a big role. A hint of sweetish lemon inserts itself briefly, before being supplanted by a resurgent hoppy finish. This is probably the most balanced IPA I have tried to date. Malt is not consigned to a minor role, but is almost as key to the beer as the hops. Unlike most IPAs, I could happily drink several of these. A delightful and delectable beer.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2014 Re-rate on August 29th 2014 based on a 50 cl bottle from Heinemann Gardermoen. Batch #785 tapped on July 24th 2014 and BBD January 24th 2016. Same impressions as initial rating but aroma is even more fresh and impressive. Seems like there are additional aromas of peach and tropical fruits in there. Initial rating on May 13th 2011: (50 cl bottle from Bunker Beer) Pours a hazy dark amber with medium, off-white head. Aroma a very likable and harmonic floral hoppiness with notes of passion fruit, lemon and a slight note of grass. Oily - almost creamy on the palate from the initial foam lending a more bitter grassiness to the aroma, which is nevertheless still very pleasant and easily drinkable. Full-bodied, average carbonation with a long, bitter finish. Taste is bitter well balanced by fruity and floral notes. A great beer - made me want to try the original recipe by De Molen.
