Batch #149, bottled 10/10/06, courtesy of Sara (not sure what her name is on RB). Dark brown with rich tan foam, very nice retention, especially for the style. Nose is very solventy, lots of nail polish remover, some cherry pie notes and a little oak also. Very tough to get by aroma, got better as it warmed, but sharp when it was first poured. Lots of oak on the flavor, some sharp acidity for a brief moment mid palate and finishes with some cherry pie and slight anise note. Very full bodied.

Reddish brown. Small head. Fizzy mouthfeel. Too sour. Acid accompanied by a gone-off flavor that you shouldn’t really pay for. Awful experience. No thanks.

Draft taste sample at Alvinne Craft Beer Festival 2015 day 2 (07.03.2015) Vichte Belgium.Jeca, Alberto and Boban.Pour it dark reddish color with small white head.On the nose red fruits.Taste and aroma of red wine, dark fruita, yeast, sour palate.Good one

14 mar 2015, tap. Dark ruby. Nose is sweet, balsamic, faintly tart. Thin body and mildly fizzy. Balsamic vinegar, slightly sweet, a bit tart. Nice. Balsamic is the biggest flavor but it isn’t as tart as I expected.

At ACBF. Belgian ’oud bruin’-like beer with thin, off-white, unstable head and dark mahogany colour; complex sour-sweetness, very estery and fruity, passionfruit, sour berries, cherries, blue grapes, very vinous, lactic acidity drying the finish, over smooth caramelly malts; oaky tannins add some more dryness in the finish. Less ’full’, somewhat less body and complexity and less refined perhaps than e.g. Rodenbach Vintage, but still a good example of the style, which clearly is no longer limited to the southern parts of Flanders.

Pours brown, some red highlights; small off-white head. Aroma of sour, funky notes, hints of wood. In taste it’s very sour and ’wild’. Great, clear acidity and rich, complex aftertaste. Not necessarily balanced, but very good overall.

Botella. Pasada de fecha, unos 15 dias aunque no creo q importe demasiado en esta Birra. Batch 343.Color marrón oscuro algo rojizo. Espuma marrón de baja formación y nula retención. En nariz...vinagre de vino, especias, cola, malta tostada, soja, madera. En boca textura fina y muy baja carbonatacion. Dulzura media baja q rápido pasa a acidez acética potente, el final es astringente... madera. A parte del rollo acético se aprecia la malta tostada, arándanos, grosellas y frutos similares. No es mucho de mi estilo, pero en el suyo creo q esta bien.

Ruby red with a small frothy tan head, quickly dissipating. Aroma is tart cherries, vinegar, oak, yoghurt. Taste is tart fruity, dry woody with a balsamic vinegar sweetness along with some caramel. Finish is dry woody, balsamic vinegar, lingering dry acidic fruitiness. Medium bodied, small bubble carbonation, dry.

Pours dark red with a small white ring of foam clinging to the glass.
Aroma has yoghurt, red berries and tartness.
Taste has cereals, lots of sourness/tartness, wood, red berries and balsamic vinegar.
Thin to medium body, low carbonation, dry mouth feel.
Dry woody aftertaste.
Aroma and taste is spot on but what could be better is the body, a bit to thin, and the carbonation could be bit higher.

Draft @ Mikkeller Bar SF on 1/19/15. Pours a red, brown color with minimal head. Aroma is acidic, red grapes, malt, and brett. Medium to thin bodied. Taste is vinegar-like acidity with tones of cherry, grape and funk with a bitter finish. Decent flanders red.
