COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
HaandBic is our first beer in the style of a fruit iambic with added red currents and Lingonberry. We have naturally also added a lambic style yeast blend incl bacteria and yeast of different types. Then this concoction has been aged in oak barrels for almost 18 months. The beer gets its tartness from both berries and the concoction we added. It will most certainly develop further given time

Bottle generously shared at Max’s FF winnings tasting. Pours a hazy burnt orange. Aroma is first and foremost raspberry and funk with plenty of sweet features too: coconut, caramel, vanilla.Flavor is a very good blend of tart raspberry and lemon with sweet caramel. Moderate acetone in the finish with lemon and raspberry. Winning.

Bittersweet aromas of stewed fruits, oak and cranberries. Minimal barnyard funk adds depth and ripens up the fruit character. Ripe tropical fruit flavours upfront, durian, lychee and cranberry. Subdued brett character develops mid-palatte, storming in with sweat, rotting fruit and olive oil and finishing with a dank, lingering tartness. Slick and watery mouthfeel is the only complaint, overall an absolute cracker!!

Tasting at MaxxDaddy’s house. The aroma is leather, farmhouse-like. The appearance is a hazy light brown color. The flavor is like the aroma, farmhouse, vinegar, tart fruit. The finish is tart fruit, grape-like. Good.

Bottle on train Cph - Berlin. Pours a clear brown with an off-white head. Sweet, dry and fruity with mellow berry aromas and tartness. Hints of funghi. Also aromas of berry juice. Tiny hints of port. Medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Dry finish with more berries.

Bottle from Premier, sampled in my mini Duvel glass. Pours a hazy orange copper with minimal carbonation & a tiny head. Nose is lemon pit, wood, some cherry pit/Flemish red acidity. Flavor is plum/cherry meat, well balanced Flanders acidity, slightly mousey. Sweet maltiness comes forward towards the finish with a bit too much bitterness. Quite fruity.

Bottle with a bottled on date of 02.26.10. Pours with a hazed amber body with an off-white head that slowly fades. Aroma is nice and funky, horseblanket, caramelized, dates, vinous, vinegar. Tons of funk. A bit of an oily/suntan lotion thing on the flavor and palate. Strawberry and vinegar beyond that. Acidity, caramel and vanilla continue. Lively bubbles. Dry. Odd oiliness.

Quite a complex sour for sure. Tastes kind of like church, or, as Timmons said, like an Old Bible. Sour for sure, but the sourness morphs into a mixture of leather, oak, and body odor-- as I said, churchlike. The finish is long and perplexing, but also kind of fun as you try to guess just what the hell it is you’re tasting. Wallet? Yep. Cranberries? Yep. Bleu Cheese? Yep. I’m not saying this bottle is the best sour ever, but it sure keeps your attention.

A: The beer pours an amber color with a minimal off-white head to it and minimal carbonation. S: Smells like aspirin, Vick’s Vapor Rub, alcohol, and harsh oak. A big menthol and eucalyptus type of aroma that is just overwhelmingly medicinal and awful. Strangely spicy and very astringent. T: Holy hell. If you wondered how putting a flaming log in your mouth would taste, drink this beer. Intensely charred/smokey wood with a big time medicinal menthol flavor. Astringent cranberry flavors and just bad all around. M: The body is medium with a low to medium carbonation. D: This is putrid stuff. So far the sour beers from these guys (with the exception of Haandbakk) have been pretty bad.
