COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
HaandBic is our first beer in the style of a fruit iambic with added red currents and Lingonberry. We have naturally also added a lambic style yeast blend incl bacteria and yeast of different types. Then this concoction has been aged in oak barrels for almost 18 months. The beer gets its tartness from both berries and the concoction we added. It will most certainly develop further given time

Bottle (500 ml). Split 2-ways with the lady.

Appearance: Cloudy copper with a small quickly disappearing beige head and no lacing.

Aroma: Berries, lot of oak, balsamic vinegar, light vanilla and apples.

Taste: Medium sourness, balsamic vinegar (not in a bad way too, it might be the most well integrated "vinegar" component I have tasted in a beer so far), berries, lots of oak again and light burnt caramel.

Palate: Medium body. Soft carbonation. Vinous mouthfeel. Dry and oaky finish.

Overall: Not that close to lambic, but a well executed sour in the HaandBryggeriet way. They handled the "vinegar" aspect wery well. The acidity carries the berries features very well. Tasty.

Pours an unclear copper with a head that fizzes away in an instant and leave you with something that looks like still lambic. Nose is of funk and acetic acid, not too much though and could easily pass as authentic. Taste is sour and plays with vinegar in quite a masterful way, not harsh at all. Good oak and fruitiness. Body is light to medium and carbonation somehow high for a "lambic". Overall a fine brew, scratches the right itch and does not land too far from its target.

Amber coloured and unclear. Has a white head. Fruity, red berries and acid. Flavor starts light sweet, then acid, astringent.

Bottle, shared by me in a location remote to my dining room.
Pours a sort of orange color with pinkish hues when held up to the light, itís got a small head and some spotty lacing on the glass.

The aroma is funky and oaky with some tart fruit and barnyard. All of those things are just great, less great is the fresh paint aroma that is mild enough to forgive to some degree.

The flavor is nicely tart with lots of tart berries and sour fruit. Itís very dry and just a touch bitter, even a little astringent at moments, but again this is mild enough that the delicious elements prevail. Itís fairly sour and pretty earthy.

enjoyable beer for sure.

Tap sample. Poured a clear ruby color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy sour fruit aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sour & tart fruit flavor with a medium tart & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer.

Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball. Looks good for the style; a hazy amberish brown with thin off-white head that quickly dissipates into thin lacing. Smells solid; lacto, berries, and a bit of vinegar. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Could use more carbonation for as sour as it is. Medium-bodied (fuller for the style). Good, not great.

Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Hazy amber red color. Minimal head. Dot or two of lace. Good tart bigger sour taste on this. Dark fruit, blueberry, woody tannic. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Light slick, then drying finish. Great woody complex light funky flavor. Awesome sour! Very tasting and satisfying.

Those crazy Danish. The description talks about Lingonberry, though the bottle lists cranberry. Are those IKEA devils selling me fancy jam thatís the same cranberries the Indians are growning a couple hours up the road? And what is kornmalt? Google translate gives me cereal malt which says a lot of nothing. My sad "English is king" attitude thinks itís corn malt, but really thatís just me just translating by yelling the word slowly and expecting someone to understand. Sigh. What I do know is that I loooooove this beer. They nailed the sour balance on this right off. 500ml bottle pours a cloudy reddish brown, then the second pour delivers a brownish red, with a decent amount of bits floating in the mix. Head? This beer donít need no stinking head. Nose of sweetness and sour currents and red wine. The taste is lovely sourness, that isnít overwhelming, caramel malts, mild fruits with a smooth finish. Nice. And did I get it Ontario? LCB-nO! Great beer, canít get it here. Premier Gourmet Group buffalo.
