HaandBic is our first beer in the style of a fruit iambic with added red currents and Lingonberry. We have naturally also added a lambic style yeast blend incl bacteria and yeast of different types. Then this concoction has been aged in oak barrels for almost 18 months. The beer gets its tartness from both berries and the concoction we added. It will most certainly develop further given time

50cl bottle. Small beige head atop murky dark amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, sour cherry, some wood, currant, funk. Taste is moderately sweet, sour cherry, some funk, light berry, wood. Light-medium body, some stickiness, light acidity, low carbonation. No puckering here, just a pleasant sourness.

Bottle from 2010. Aroma is surprisingly on point for a lambic. Lots of nice horse blanket character with light acetic acidity and moderate lactic notes. Slightly sweet and fruity with medium light oak notes. Pours a nice copper color with some nice red notes to it. Thin, slightly white head that has no retention and slightly lingers on the edges. Fairly acidic upfront with a light sweetness. Some fruitiness and light malt character. Horse blanket funk is less than in the aroma. Acidity is fairly complex, but not as clean and citrusy as I would like. Medium oak notes. Finish isn’t as nice as I would prefer from a true lambic. This reminds me a bit more of Iris than a wheat based lambic. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low acidic astringency with low alcohol warmth. Overall a surprisingly nice and authentic version of a fruit lambic from Norway. The fruit is surprisingly light and more of a background note. The barnyard character and oak are fairly on point, but the acidity is a touch off.

500ml bottle. Wonderful, clear ruby red colour with small, frothy, fading, off-white head. Tart, dry, fruity aroma has notes of red currant, lingonberry, plum, a touch of leather and oak, spicy, yeasty overtones. Taste is dry fruity, minimally sweet, minimally tart, notes of sour cherries, red currant, hints of oak and vanilla, spicy, minimally peppery yeasty notes; lasting dry finish with hints of fruit parings. Really nice.

Bottle from Bier Stein, Eugene. Pours a medium reddish brown, little to no head. Aroma is effing heavenly. Oak, tartness, currants. Wow! Body very lively, finish sweet and tangy.

A nice colour, reddish brown, a head is lazy and blond. The nose is strongly berry, northern cranberries, some vinegar sourness and earthyness. Taste of sour berries, medium sour, lingonberries and some barrel. Medium bodied, low carbonation, and slightly sticky to drink. The strongly berry, that is great, but the best sophistication is missing, as this, too juicy like.

Hmmmm. Interesting aroma reminds me of black Lexus (or Mercedes) leather that's been left in the sun. Background is orange peel. New car smell. Strange.

Taste is more along the lines of a traditional Oude Bruin, yet still isn't fully developed. Tastes like it experimented with sours in college and still isn't sure what it wants in life. Hmmm.

Aroma of tart cherry wood and oak. Very woody. Pours red with very little head. Taste is woody like a cedar or cherry wood with cranberry and cherry. Very tasty and earthy with a good tart. Would have again.

Bottle. Hazy brune pour with tan head. Very tart berry and acidic aroma tones. Very tart flavor with mild vinegar and fruit tones. Almost too sour.

500ml bottle in a cup. Pours ruby with a pink head. Aroma of cranberries and red fruit, some sweetness, light sourness, and hints of oak. Flavor the same with a little too much sweetness. Average texture. A decent beer.
