Bottle @Apollon, Bergen. Aroma of sweet malts, honey, caramel, alcohol, some dried fruits, some grassy notes. Red brown, small beige head. Medium sweetness, medium bitterness, tastes of alcohol, port, dried red fruits, honey, floral, caramel. Medium body, oily feel, soft carbonation, long bitter aftertaste. Rich and big, close to port wine, suitable for pairing with blue cheese. Maybe it needs even more time (brewed early 2014)?

Light haze on this deep red - amber beer, decent pale tan head. Palate is light and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Aged tasting malts, woody caramel and a touch of papery spice. Fairly dry finish. Good aged tasting barleywine.

500ml bottle (thanks FatPhil). Clear dark copper color. Small size, beige-yellow head, stays. Alcohol, caramel, plums, fruity, blackcurrant in aroma. Almonds, dried black plums, faint smokiness in taste. Walnuts in aftertaste. Nice balance. Alcohol is well covered. Nice one.

Sweet malty walnutty aroma. Tastes of prunes. That’s it, it’s just freaking prunes. I love prunes. If I can put the prunes to the side, I will own up to getting lots of sweet malts, a bit woody, but very walnutty, including the papers carrying the dry dry bitterness. Damn good barley wine. Very full palate, a little sweet, almost sticky, but for a sipper perfectly acceptable. Finish has lovely bitter dry hops. 3.7 may be good for me, but I feel it may be an underrate, as I do enjoy every sip. Each sip more than the previous.

Very fruity, dark fruits. Malty and slightly bitter, bit mostly sweet of course. Not bad. But simple.

At a tasting, thanks, small bubbly off white head, murky light brown to dark red, aroma of biscuit, nuts and strawberries, flavor of cake and biscuit wth a hint of dried fruits and wood, medium mellow bitterness. Nice but quite simple.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Stas & Vova. Murky brown. Aroma of malt, toast, caramel, stale hops, nuts. Sweet flavor with malt, caramel, nuts, toast, a fruity note, and stale hops. Medium-bodied.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2015 Pours a clear medium-dark brown with reddish highlights and a small beige head that leaves some lacing. Nose is of caramel and fusels/strong alcohol. Taste is pretty sweet, moderately boozy and bitter. Flavors of brown sugar, alcohol, wood. A bit too hot but still drinkable. Body is medium-full and carbonation soft. Overall a fair barleywine, I wouldn’t buy it again though as it just isn’t complex and smooth enough. I can brew something like that myself! ;)

Bottle from Den Nordiske Ølhandel, bought in April 2015. Hazy dark reddish/brownish with a small tan head. Aroma of dried fruit, malt and some wood. The taste was similar although sweetish. Also some wood and notes of herbs. The body was thick and the carbonation relaxed.
