Bottle. Pours a hazy deep mahogany brown body with a medium creamy off-white head. Nose is caramel, toffee, red berries, pine, resin and hints of bread, brown sugar and biscuits. Taste is pine, caramel, burnt sugar, resin, bread and hints of coffee, brown sugar and rum. Full body, medium to soft carbonation. Bitter, in the U.S. tradition, which I am not the biggest fan of, but still a very nice beer.

Shared bottle @ Schouskjelleren. Slightly unclear reddish orange body with a small tan head. Appeling aroma of caramel malt and dry fruit in a typical barley wine style. Flavor is sweet, soft malty, caramel, dry fruit, moderate bitterness and warming alcohol. Fine body and smooth aftertaste. Quite pleasant, still a bit more ordinary in flavor than expected from aroma. Maybe some cellaring would do good?

Ruby, cloudy beer with short-lived head. Malty, sweet and fruity tones in aroma and taste. Bitterness is medium beer is semi-sweet. Carbonization suit to this beer style. Good beer to long nurse at evening and thinking about future.

Tiny shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet fruity, leafs, caramel malts, sugar, hops, grass, sap, alcohol, cardboard, old hops. Taste is slightly sweet grassy, caramel malts, leafs, grass, old hops, sugar, bark, alcohol. Medium to longlasting bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Not my cup of tea.

UPDATED: MAY 27, 2014 Hazy, medium brown body with a small, eggnog head that laces the glass well. Moderate aroma that is sweet and malty with notes of caramel, sweet dark dried fruits and sweet honey. The rather strong flavour also has some chocolate and some refreshing notes of citrus, plus a bit of alcohol. Moderate sweet taste with a balancing moderate bitter finish. Full body, smooth texture, pretty soft carbonation. Good stuff.

Bottle, at Schouskjelleren. It’s a lightly hazy, dark brown beer with a small, off-white to light beige colored head. The aroma has caramel maltyness, some dried fruits and bread. Nice indeed, but lacking a bit on complexity. It’s more bready on the palate, with the same caramel and dried fruits. Malty sweetness too, and pretty low on bitterness. Full body, lightly warming and pleasantly carbonated. Dryish, yet semi-sweet. Lasting finish. A pretty tasteful one, but as mentioned, I’d like it more complex. Wonder if some cellaring might do it good. 140501
