Batch 666.

pours murky light brown, orange tint, with a small faintly reviving light beige cap, few lacing - some particles. peppery and salty caramel, woodsy fruits - unripened raspberries; some browned nutty toasted maltiness, piney booziness, earthy, spices. light carbonation, medium to full body; assertive if not slightly harsh, tannic and drying grassy-spicy-piney-earthy finish. o-k.

At ACBF. Hazy bronze ale with loose, light beige head; estery and sweetishly fruity nose, raisins, caramelly malts, smoky touch; fruity taste, soft mouthfeel, thick oily maltiness, sweet but not cloying with a balancing sourish accent, vinous finish with warming alcohol and bittering, leafy and drying hops. Very enjoyable.

Small rim left; dark red-amberish beer. Aromatic nose with resiny, cypress-like hops, lunaria. Dry - even wry - woody flavour, superimposed by red and dried fruit. Fusely esters. Very oily-slick. Medium bodied at least. Quite special nose, hinting in a quite different direction than the taste turned out to be.

Sampled draft@ ACBF 2015. Dark amber with no head. Sweet oxidized sherry nose, lightly herbal, huge sugar, very sweet. Taste is oxidized sherry, lots of sugar, light walnuts, very sweet, malty,… Lots of sweetness. Pretty decent barley wine with lots of good oxidation notes. A bit too simple but nice still.
