Synd!

(500ml bottle thanks to Errl) clear medium pink/brown, fine white bubbles. Nose of earth, grain, wheat, no berries, boring really. Taste of boring grain, VERY faint tartness and fruit, little salty, just boring. Not bad but not good.

Bottle. Reddish beer with a pinkish head. Berry and malt aroma with light tartness. Berry and malt flavor with light wheat. Medium bodied. Berry and light sweet malt lingers with light wheat.

Bottle. Pours with an odd hazy pinkish purple hued body and a foamy off-white head. Aromas are of lactic acid tartness, fruity, berry, leather, pine, slightly oily, bugspray. Light, nutty malt character. Flavors are interesting. Earthy, tobacco, fruity, leather, berry. I’ve never had a crowberry, so I guess that is most of what I am tasting (as it feels very unfamiliar). Pomegranate, earthy, mild acidity and a good bit of tannin. Pretty unique. Lively carbonation, lightly tart, pretty dry and very tannic.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours a red / crimson / brown hazy beer with a nice, big, pink head.

The aroma is fresh, fruity, hints of sourness, notes reminiscent of red currants.

The flavor is mainly fruity berries, and I guess it’s crowberries - I’ve forgotten how those taste. Very nice flavor, but a bit one-dimensional.

Tastewise it’s surprisingly sweet upfront, then a bit sour and bitter in the finish and the aftertaste, but mainly sweet. Rather full body with medium/soft carbonation. I would personally prefer less sweetness, and I guess that might be possible to achieve by aging it for a year or more, if there’s any Brett or similar yeast in this beer.

I like it, but it reminds me more of a cider or fruit wine than a beer!

Bottle at home. Has a hazy reddish amber colour with a light pink medium whipped eggwhite-like head. Aroma of fruits, Belgian yeast, hay, spices and cherries. The flavour is similar but balanced and complex, and is sweeter. There’s also some forest floor, heather, smoke and barnyard. Has a slick and smooth mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A nice mix between Norwegian berries and a Belgian beer.
