3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Smaskifa (111) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 15, 2013
Bottle, at Haandverkerstuene. Aroma; Red fruits, sour notes, game and some reduced red wine. The taste is nice and fruity, you can feel the crowberries. The aftertaste is the most interesting because I get very clear game associations, specifically it reminds me of the smell of reindeer furs, combined with quite bitter and earthy crowberries. Alright beer though.

bottle shared with mathieuc! (appreciable gusher) pours milky copper, red hue, with a decent off-white, pinkish head, some retention. fresh wild dark berries, very spicy and peppery yeastiness, light acidity - wheat feeling, hint of sweetness, woodsy notes, dusty fruitiness. average carbonation, light body - almost oily, short grassy-herbal-spicy finish. nice offering (but please correct bottle conditioning)!
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mathieuc (323) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - APR 10, 2013
Bottle shared by czar, thanks! Pours a murky red with a big white head (after it gushed and we lost close to a third of the bottle). Aroma is of red fruits, acid and a little spicy. Taste is a bit sour with not much hops felt. Flavors are once again of fruits, the wild kind, and some black pepper. There is a moderate amount of acidity that makes it really drinkable too. Another good one from Haandbrygerriet!

500 ml bottle. Bottled 4/29/12; about 11 months old. Pours murky amber with a medium beige-red head with good retention. Aroma is funky, fruity, brown sugar, dusty; smells good, but it’s not all that forceful. Taste is a little bit sweet, a little tart and savory with a dry finish. A little watery. Mouthfeel is foamy, body medium. Not all that much flavor, really. Not bad. I thought it would be better, though.

50 cl bottle from Eggedal Borgerstue. Enjoyed with some nice local elkroast. Pours murky red with a big creamy off-white head that stays there. Aroma is crowberries, some pine. Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite easy to drink. Flavour of crowberries and oak. Dry and bitter, light caramel. A very good match for our dinner and we enjoyed both.
