This is a collaborate brew with Erlann Eldorsen based on his recipe. Kreklingøl is made with crowbrerries, a very special berry that is picked in Finnmark, the part of Norway north of the Polar circle. The beer is very refreshing with a reddish hue from the berries.

Editor’s note: hey, crowberries are common in most of Norway and can even be found at Rejkjær Sande in Denmark.

50 cl bottle from Eggedal Borgerstue. Enjoyed with some nice local elkroast. Pours murky red with a big creamy off-white head that stays there. Aroma is crowberries, some pine. Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite easy to drink. Flavour of crowberries and oak. Dry and bitter, light caramel. A very good match for our dinner and we enjoyed both.

Mörkbrun i färgen offwhite skum. Doftar och smakar funky, lite lingon, söta toner av svarta vinbär, lätt rökig ton.

Bottle at Hop & Vine, Portland. Pours a bright red, aroma is a slight funk/tartness, apple and crowberries, very bright. Body is subtly lively without being too tart, if a bit doughy. Very, very easy drinking. Wasn’t honestly sure what to expect with this one, but was pleasantly surprised. Probably wouldn’t rush to drink it again, but an enjoyable detour.

Bottle at Bodega in LaCrosse WI. Brownish red pour that gushed a bit. Thin white head. Dark berry fruit in the nose. A little sour and a little sweet, but both are fairly subtle. Nice overall. Wonder if this would get more sour over time.

Bottle at ChrisO Holiday Tasting, London - thanks to Henrik. Super gusher! Pours cloudy purple with a light, foamy head. Funky berry nose. Moderately sweet flavor with sweat, funk, light grass and berries. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Tart finish, sugary berries, mild funk. Alright.

Pours a clear light reddish color with a very thin white head. Aroma is fruity, berries. Taste is berries, some sourness, a bit of bread, touch of bitterness in the finish. High carbonation. Very mild, even considering the alcohol content. This beer is very soft on the palate. The flavors aren’t incredibly pronounced and there isn’t anything overly interesting about this beer. That being said, it’s certainly drinkable and is a pretty spot on example of a fruit beer.
