4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 snzcujo (274) - RUSSIA - NOV 15, 2012
Tasted on tap @Grove Inn, on 03/11/2012.
Pours of muddy brownish/velvety color, with a gorgeous caramely white head.
Aroma is so beautifull, very intense, having loads of lovely berry tartness mixed with biscuits - that distinct crownberry character.
Taste just beats you up with its complexity, mildly sour upfront, then going into the berries' world, following by a sweet, malty theme.

Bottle from Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours reddish amber with a nice beige head and a fruity malt aroma. There is a musty smoked malt flavor with a tart berry finish.

Bottle: Poured a clear reddish color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light sweet berries with light tart notes is quite interesting. Taste is also a good balanced mix between some tart notes mix in with lightly sweet berries notes. Acidity level is quite low and taste is only lightly tart and not sour. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not necessarily something I would drink on a regular basis but very interesting nonetheless.

50cL bottle Aus imported. Gassy with off white head that dissipates quickly. Beautiful rose water colour in glass. Lovely aroma of cherry and cranberry with stalky/earthy notes in the background. Palate is light and fresh with red berry/stalky flavours and a light malty finish. Still has plenty of that Haand Bryggeriet house style. Nice beer that is beautifully refreshing on a spring day.

Keg at the Rake. It pours deep red-brown, with a thin-white head. The nose is berry, jammy fruit, earth andcandy. The taste is berry, raisin, wood, varnish, leaather, saltiness, medicinal aspect and jam, with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Unusual....

Super hazy, muddy deep brown coloured body with a tint of ruby and even some rust colours with a dense, three centimetre tall deep tan almost light brown head. Aroma of malt, raisins, prunes, toffee, caramel, figs and a bit of citrus too. Nice smelling and sweet/fruit scents dominate. Medium-bodied; Assertive malt flavour with some bready yeast behind, a lot of lighter chocolate notes and some earthiness seeps in the back. Aftertaste is somewhat fruity with figs, raisins, prunes and a hint of cherries noticeable, but more malt, alcohol and caramel show through than anything else. Overall, an interesting beer with a lot of muddied malt and chocolate flavours with some alcohol and deep caramel running through. Nice to try, not one of my absolute favourites, but not a bad beer! I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 22-July-2012 for US$9.95, sampled at home in Washington on 20-September-2012.

Fra fat på Cardinal: tydelig kreklingbær i aromaen, også i smaken. Frisk og syrlig uten å være sur. Deilig bærsmak. Litt assosiasjoner til porter. Har de brukt litt røykmalt?
