COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is our premium X-Mas beer. This beer is full of all the dark malts that we have at hand and display a full and complex malt taste, almost reaching in to the porter style. It has a balanced fruitiness from hops with a good mouth feel and smoothness, and a lingering aftertaste of roasted malts.

Bottled 500ml. Nice dark brown body with gentle red/brown head. Aroma is light burnt with a hint of vanilla and coffee. Sweet flavor with a nice balanced bitter-hops and some acetic feeling in the background. Medium to full body, with oily texture. Rated as a 4-month aged beer as the brewers felt that Christmas time was a bit to early for this beer. I also tasted this beer in November and I have to say I agree. The beer feel more harmonic with a longer aftertaste. The short aftertaste in November was the only really negative aspect with this beer first time I tasted it.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Batch 13 (BB August 07). Murky brown. Dense head with nice round dimples. Sweet aroma of burnt malt. Depth in flavour with medium bodied mouthfeel. Delightful mixture of malt. Dark chocolate, spicy and bittersweet in a lasting and lovely finish. Perfect combinations of sweetness and bitterness. A role model for a traditional Yule ale, and one of the very best beers for xmas in Norway last season. Nearly two months after xmas the beer is yet better. A very suitable drink to pork and other butcher’s meat.

An unclear dark brown beer with a foamy tan head. Aroma is malty with a spicy note and a dusty herby tone. Flavor is malty and spicy with dark fruit and chocolate present. Has a dry cinnamon tone as well and some grassy bitterness towards the finish. A nice x-mas brew! Thanks Jens M.

½l bottled gift from the brewer - thanks. Cloudy dark-brown beer. Has a nice but not very lasting brown head. Spicy smell with hints of candis and cinamon. Sweetish taste of liqourice, cinamon and chocolate. Nice traditional Christmas beer, and best beer yet from Haandbryggeriet.

UPDATED: SEP 3, 2008 Tan coarse-laced medium head topping opaque black body. Aroma of coffee and citrusy hops. Powerful, sweet, roasty taste with notes of hops, and a nicely rounded burnt dry finish. Lovely! Now this is a proper Christmas beer. (This rating stinks. Need to rerate.)
