Have loved every beer I’ve had from this brewery...until now. Very average and uninspired. Norwegian Wood, Norse Porter, and Dark Force were all impressive. Cloudy dark chocolate color with a spongy latte head. Roasted malt, Nestle Quik, toffee and spice. Perhaps I’m being overly critical but was surprised by and enjoyed their others so much more.

Pours dark with a tall lasting head. Strong chocolaty aromas fill the room. Full nectar with soft and creamy effers. Huge chunky chocolate Hershey flavors ebvelope my attention as the roasted coffee bean essence snaps its fingers brining me back. The finish goes on and on. A decadent brew indeed.

Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - NOV 18, 2008
Bottled October 2007, best by October 2010, consumed November 2008. Pours a dark and dense mahogany brown color with a slowly fading, spongy, khaki colored head. Thin, crackly, spider-web lacing marks the glass well. The aroma shows like a spiced holiday porter. Rich cocoa and burnt caramel malts show in the base, followed by Fig Newton cookies, roasty espresso, cinnamon, and vanilla. Earthy spices and hops are prominent throughout. The flavor is chocolaty, dark cocoa on full display, with a strong presence of scorched caramel and coffee. The fig notes seem to drop out a bit, replaced by roasted chestnut and even more bitter, woody, earthy spice. Medium-full and smooth on the palate, there is a spicy dryness that lingers on the tongue. I was pleasantly surprised by this brew. It’s more porter than anything, but there’s plenty of gritty earth and spice to go around. Nice brew.

Bottled, september 08 batch. Thick beige lid, stays for a little while. Aroma of choclate, coffee, roasted malt, fruits, spices. Excellent full taste of choclate, strong coffee, roastet malt, smoke, some distand dry wood. The finish is slighlty bitter and dry, and goes very well with the rest of the beer. Medium carbonation and smooth in the mouth. Excellent beer, by far the best I’ve had from the brewery.

austone (1062) - Turku; Pori, FINLAND - FEB 24, 2008
Dark brown with light quickly disappearing head. Very sweet aroma with dark chocolate, licorice and plums. Flavor sweet and malty, with dark fruits and liqueur-like notes. Finish is quite bitter, which nicely balances the sweetness, with a hint of warming alcohol. Medium to full bodied and somewhat oily on the palate. Could even be a bit fuller to support these strong aromas.
