3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 ABS (159) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - NOV 11, 2011
Pours close to black. Very little head - which might mean that they don’t have the fuzzy problem from previous years. Lacks some carbonation actually. Full, wineous feel. Chocolate and roasted malt aroma. Very good!
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 esp0r (803) - NORWAY - OCT 28, 2011
On tap at Amundsen
Dark, tanned lacings. Not the big head i remember from earlier seasons. Smells of coffee, malts. Very rich, some spice aromas too. Taste id super malty, good sweetness. Wow, this is a really good christmas season beer. Hope that the bottle edition isn’t a gusher this year. Palate is nice and oily and leads to a very nice bitter finish

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 rand (820) - SWITZERLAND - OCT 16, 2011
Bottle 50 cl #94 from erzbierschof.ch. Pours black, tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, licorice, chocolate-coffee, tobacco. Silky mouth, sweet taste, Porter trend, full roasted malts with touches of raisin, chocolate, treacle-licorice. Perfumes hints of hop and old Porto on wood. Good spicy final persistence. A treat.

16.9 oz bottle. Batch 307. Bottled 07.09.10. Pours a hazy ddep brown with a moderate-large tan head that lasted until almost mid-glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of brown sugar, molasses, cinnamon. The flavor is a bit sweet with ample malt, brown sugar, caramel, dates, and again cinnamon. Silky mouthfeel. Very enjoyable.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 drjay44 (1735) - Salida, Colorado, USA - AUG 16, 2011
500 ml. bottle. Batch 307 total bottles 3240. Bottled 09/07/10. A gusher, leading to an enormous, slowly collapsing beige head, over a dark brown (SRM 30) particle laden body.....nose is coffee, chocolate, light molasses....taste is sweet coffee, chocolate with light raisin, fig, brown sugar, finishing with a light musty tone....mouth feel medium, carbonation unpleasantly high. Except for the gusher, this was an interesting, complex and well balanced beer, reaching into the Porter style. BJCP 7/2/14/4/7

Bottle, courtesy GT2. Pour is brown with a small beige head. Aroma is light smoke, dark fruit, roast. Taste is lightly smokey, chocolate, licorice, woody, somewhat bitter. Palate over-carbonated, medium body, slick texture.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 GT2 (3970) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 8, 2011
500mL. Gusher. An extremely overcarbonated pour yields a small, hazy brune with yeast chunkies and a gigantic beige head about six fingers tall. No lace. Suddy retention. Nose is a little bit ocean breezy, fresh air, petrichor, and subtle smoky meat. Baked red apples come to mind. Overall, nose is overrun by odd phenols. Taste is spritzy and heavily carbonated detracting from what would perhaps be a richer body. Rather, there is muted spice and a lot of lactic tartness as if this is mildly infected. Finishes a bit papery and bitter.

Opague, pitch black colour. Smells licorice, roasty and some wine notes. Tastes roasty, coffee, sour, wine and wood. Great carbo, full body.
