Bottle. Going against he grain here, but for me this beer was not well balanced, had a bit of a harsh/metallic finish, and just didn’t come together.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jkwood04 (1407) - Connecticut, USA - MAY 23, 2012
500ml bottle in a snifter. Pours very dark brown with a thick, lacy, beige head. Aroma of caramel and chocolate plus a little roastedness and cereal from the malts, and floral hops. Flavor the same with a lot of malts, but enough hops to balance it. Smooth texture. A good beer.

50 cl bottle @ home. BBE 11/2010, Rated on 15.01.2011
Aroma is a bit flat and stale with lots of roasted malt. Flavour has some dark, ripe fruits and lots of somewhat roasted malt. Also hints of cardboard, probably a bit too old bottle.

from Erzbierschof - cloudy brown beer under a long lasting beige foam; strong toasted malty aroma with notes of nuts and mocha; some sweetness and a quite thick palate; a late earthy bitterness before a long toasted malty and chocolatey finish with some notes of licorice - voluptuous

On tap at The Ginger Man, NYC. Pours black with a thin rim of tan head. Aroma of booze, molasses, vanilla, chocolate, and roasted malt. Flavor is sweet and loaded with dark fruits and some chocolate. Reminds me of Old Engine Oil. Well developed palate and not too sweet. This I like :-)

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 mnoud (92) - Martinsburg, West Virginia, USA - FEB 19, 2012
2012.02.19 - 500ml bottle in pint glass. Pours dark brown, almost black, looking very much like a dark porter or a stout. A light to medium tan head sticks around and coats the surface as well as lacing the sides when tilted. Very smooth, light mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden. Taste is a hint of chocolate or roast, and a slight tang or tartness similar to a Guinness stout.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 humlelala (400) - DENMARK - FEB 19, 2012
(50 cl bottle courtesy of Bunker Beer, thanks! Batch 313) Pours black with medium, toffee head. Good lace and retention. Pleasant aroma of roasted malts with a touch of licorice. Creamy texture, medium carbonation, full body and a dark, roasted finish. Taste is mildly bitter with roasted notes, smooth and with a little sweetness. Girlfriend says: "It’s very pleasant."
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Tequilakongen (291) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 18, 2012
A black beer, the head is solid and brown. Malts, chocolate and coffee in the aroma, faint alcohol. It boasts a complex, rich taste is rich and the mouthful is creamy, some fruit, malts, chocolate and hops in taste. (Bottle)
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jgb9348 (3497) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - FEB 12, 2012
Deep dark brown coloured body with a thick, frothy, perfectly microfoamed tan head - about four centimetres tall. Aroma of malt, raisins, prunes, concord grapes, must, mushrooms and a touch of earth. Medium to Full-bodied; Dense, thick chocolate flavour at first with a good dose of pit fruits and some deep fruit flavours of prunes and plums with a bit of dates. Aftertaste shows a lot of complexity with some basement mustiness, some mushrooms, chocolate, a lot of alcohol, metal and a good level of earthy malt. Overall, a nice beer with a ton of great complexity, a nice layer of flavours and some great sweetness. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 20-November-2011 for US$8.95 sampled at home in Washington when the weather finally got sort of chilly on 12-February-2012. Batch 307, Total Bottles 3240, my bottle was bottled on 07-September-2010.
