This beer is our new X-mas beer for the coming season. Milder and less powerful roasty taste than Nissefar. More maltiness from the crystal malts and more fruity taste from lots of aroma hops, incl a hard to describe taste from our secret ingredient.

Bottle at home. Has a pretty hazy deep dark brown to black colour with a coffee-like beige head. Aroma of dark berries, roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, leather and a hint of smoke. Nice! The flavour is not far from the aroma but with a more roasted touch with some ash and oak. The mouthfeel is soft and rich, and has a medium bitterness. A full bodied ale for the great moments in front of the fire, and with a nice roasted touch.

Dark brown, cloudy body with a light-brown head of average size and longevity that doesn’t leave much lacing on the glass. Moderate aroma with lots of soapy pine needles, it actually reminds me a lot of pine needle Grønnsåpe (Pine Sol). Also wood, bark and some spices. The taste is light sweet, a very light sourness and a moderate bitter and moderate dry finish. Flavours are dominated by those of the woods, e.g. pine needles and juniper berries. Also spices and yeast, and faint roasted notes and coffee. Medium body, dry texture and a very soft carbonation. A good one, with quite unusual aroma and flavour.

A bit too dark of an old ale style for my taste but for lovers of stout I think they would be pleased

Pours a hazy and brown beer with a large offwhite head. The aroma is malt and spices with star anis. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness with spices. Overall a beer below average.

50cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Vika. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Malty and surprisingly hoppy aroma with some (Christmas) spices (cinnamon and cardamom?), roasted malt, chocolate and hints of coffee and dark berries. Sweet and malty, nice and lightly roasty, with a quite dry finish with a nice bitterness. Delicious and refreshing! (2012-11-24)

Pours a dark brown colour with abtan head that lasts a long time. Aroma of roasted malts, pine and some spruce. Flavour consists of smoke, licorice, roasted malts and maybe some toffee in the end. Aftertaste is strong burnt malts. A really good beer, but I would wish for something that could match the big roasty aftertaste.
