3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (Batch 527). Head is initially large, frothy, brown, mostly lasting. Body is black (non-opaque, flashlight tested). Aroma is moderately malty (dark chocolate, roasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with light notes of leather, minerals, juniper, blackberry. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, soft/lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Delightful nose that’s rather shy, but as with most Haand brews this is probably already quite old and dulled down from its fresh state. No cardboardy oxidation yet though, thankfully. Nice appearance, balance, and mouthfeel, so I certainly drank the whole bottle. It would probably be 4+ if it was fresh, but we’ll never know...
