The old farm breweries of Norway made special beers - dark, hearty, earthy beers like this classic porter - for weddings christenings, funerals or any occasion at all. Haandbryggeriet makes living beer, not pastuerized nor filtered. But re-fermented in the bottle to create a natural carbonation.

Bottle. Teku. Deep brown with huge, densed, light brown head. Good head retention, poor lacing. Roasted sweet malts aroma - milk chocolate, toffee. Also caramel and dark fruits. Chocolate and coffee flavour. Taste is light to medium bitter with nice sweet malty flavours. Medium body, velvety and creamy texture, medium carbonation, finish is semi-sweet and chocolate. In overall very nice porter - highly drinkable and not boring like classical English. Once again the proof that Haand. makes great dark beers.

Aroma is intense deep rich malts. Licorice, chocolate, mocha, vanilla, raisin, fig an earthiness and light fragrant hops. Taste is a rich malts with an almost chewy mouthfeel. Caramel, toffee, and sweet roasty malts and molasses. Deep until the end with a light subtle bitterness on the tip. Bottle at home. Poured a dark clear cola color with a slight brown head. Sour malt on the nose with fair roast chocolate and coffee. Tastes bitter like coffee. Good, but don’t use it for a sauce, will be too bitter.

Pours a dark brown with a thin yellow-ish head that leaves good lacing. Nose carries a healthy dose of roasted malt and smells of dark chocolate and coffee. Some really light green pepper, so light that they might not be worth mentioning. Taste is lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Again a lot of roasted malt but all in a good way, not acrid at all. No ash, too. Flavor is of chocolate, coffee with a slightly fruitiness. Really well balanced. Body is medium and carbonation moderate, mouthfeel is rich and sticky. Overall a really nice porter, I enjoyed it quite a bit!
