COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a robust porter with lots of dark malts of various kinds with a smooth taste and a nice fruitiness from the hops and a dryish aftertaste that lingers. 34 IBU’s

Bottle, 500ml, from a Vinmonopolet in Oslo. A black colour with a large brown head. Aroma of sweet chocolate malt, some yeast notes. Flavour of chocolate malt with honey and coffee. Some underlying hop notes. Low to moderate carbonation. A slightly bitter, hoppy finish. Really enjoyed this.

Black color with a beige head. Heavy stuff :-) Chocolate, coffe and roasted malt nose. Massive flavor with roasted malt, vanilla, dark fruits and coffe. Well done Haandbryggeriet. Highly recomendable.

500ml bottle. Hop punch, quite bitter, roasty, quite dry. Coffee, liquorice. Tough one, enjoyable.

Bottle on 02/05/2011. Dark black body with a medium creamy brown head. Rich roast chocolate and molasses aroma, slight raisin. Sweet fruit, chocolate and molasses flavor with light smoke. Medium full body mod high carb.

This beer is pretty cool. It has a fairly sweet taste of roast and chocolate upfront. It sort of peters off, then all of a sudden there is a huge dark coffee resurgence that lingers. It’s really good.

Bottle: Batch 138, 2008 vintage....best by Jan ’10... Pours deep brown with a huge, fountain-cola, slow gushing, dark head. Aroma is smoke, chocolate. Taste is sweet, dark chocolate, roast coffee, malt. A slightly tangy bit of dark fruit. Very, very, nice.

Backlog rating 12-06-2008. Bottle and Batch NR 79. This beer pours a medium size tan frothy, fizzy head that mostly diminished, opaque body, no visible carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is malty, chocolate, coffee, and roasty. The flavor mimics the aroma. The palate is smooth, thin and watery. This is a thin bodied Porter. Overall, this beer is too thin and watery tasting given the style and the flavor just did not do this beer justice.

500 ml bottle, purchased @ Julio’s Liquors. (had in my cellar about 6 months) Intensely dark brown with large beige head. Bottle has a bit too much carbonation. Aroma of chocolate, mild coffee, some dark fruits. Dry roasted coffee, roasted grain, hints of licorice and a bit of a citrus hop. Although the citrus is barely noticeable. A bit of lactose sugar as well. Medium in body leaning on the full side. The texture is on the creamy side but the fizzy/ over-carbonation hurts it I feel. Still really tasty.

500mL Bottle, on sale at Kingstown Liquors - North Kingstown, RI for $3! Tangy, metallic roast aroma. Flavors are solid. Light woodiness, a bit of cherry juice and some distant chocolate. Maybe just a nip past-peak, but still very solid and a good bargain at this price. I did, however, expect a richer, more oily beer.

Norse Porter ABV 6.5 Batch 208 Black. HUGE tan head. It may have been my glass... but no other beer poured into it has done that. Dry hay smell, roasted malt. Burnt malt dominates the beginning and middle, ends with a bitter aftertaste. A solid taste, though not complex. Moderate body, medium to high level of carbonation. Good overall, but nothing too special.
