COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Once, every farm in Norway was required by law to brew its own ale. All of that ale had a natural smoky taste because the malt was kilned by fire, and most of it was spiced with juniper berries. Norwegian Wood, a recreation of that traditional style, is made by the "Hand Brewery" - four guys brewing in their spare time, on an absurdly small scale.

3-4 ounce sample from a bottle at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Whoa, killer smoked aroma on this. Total bacon-like/campfire/smoked gouda cheese on this. Really appealing nice with a light underlying sweetness. Modestly hazy amber body with a small off-yellow head present. Fair lacing. Starts a little acidic, which is then followed by a really nice smoky, woody, bacon-like flavor, which is persistent. Really nice malt balance. Really good. Smoke is not overdone.

Bottle. Strong smokey nose. Average carb, medium body. Really smokey, I don’t get much more than that though. It’s good.

Bottle. Pours light brown with a nice head. Aroma burnt malts and some juniper. The juniper really makes an interesting taste into the product. Not Bad.

Norwegian Woods pours a muddy amber with a ton of floating yeast sediments. A thick beige head leaves some nice lacing. The nose is smoky, earthy and fruity with a nice sweet caramel malt. The middle is quite sweet with an unusual fruity taste and an earthy, woody malt. Bitter and smokey on the finish with tons of carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel.

Deep red, small white head. Aroma is smokey wood, roasted malt and some fruit. Awesome. Flavor... same but more intense! Smokey! berries! Sweet, tart, smokey, man, awesome. Smooth.
