0.5l bottle. Oh, the barreled version of one of my favorites former Haandbryggeriet? Excited. As oily and jet black as they come, and it has a fantastic looking medium sized really chocolate dark head. It has a wood-sour thing going on in the aroma, but also I get lots of dark chocolate fondant, cocoa, whisky, vanilla and coconut. It’s somehow managing to not be pushy and extreme, but more gentle and definitely inviting! Thick and chewy in the mouth with a soft small prickling carbonation level. Like chewing on motor oil (I can imagine). The wood sourness sticks in the flavor as well. A bit wild with lots of dark chocolate, warming alcohol and vanilla. Such a fantastic sipper! It’s actually leaving a soft chili-like warming sting on the back of the tongue in the aftertaste. Gives it a new element against all that dark roasted chocolate flavors. In the aftertaste my mouth feels somewhat mouthdrying and almost okay. Will enjoy this as long as it lasts, and I’m definitely glad I bought a few bottles of this. Impressively tasty on a lovely Saturday night. 23.03.2013

Saturday afternoon at Vertshuset Skarven in Tromsø, 500ml bottle shared with Stefan and Elisabeth. Shiny and bubbly head over a deep, jet black body. Mid-sweet taste of vanilla, earthy malts and integrated alcohol. Powerful and well blended flavour containing dry, vanilla oak, dark fruits, anise, and roasted, almost burnt, malts. Long-lived bittersweet ending with tingling alcohol on the swallow. Joyful sipper (20.04.2013).

50cl bottle at Amundsen. Brewed 2012-04-26. Bottled 2013-02-06. Pitch black colour with a very small head. Aroma is sharp with heavy notes of alcohol and oak. Also notes of coffee, cocoa and hops. Flavour is also sharp and the oak and alcohol is just as massive as the aroma. Coffee and cocoa of course. Medium long aftertaste.

Big, bad RIS. On draft at Angel's Trumpet Ale House. Jet black, with dark brown head which sticks around for a bit. Bug malt taste, heavy mouthfeel, not very big on hops though. An incredible RIS in every regard though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Lovely oakiness adding an extra dimension to what is already an outstanding beer. Strong malty sweetness, dryness that is the sum of hops and wood melting toghether, vanilla and oakiness that lasts a long time. Very enjoyable.
