Countbeer (4303) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - OCT 27, 2013
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Motoroil pour. Medium sized brown foamy head on top of a pitch black colored beer. Aromas of berries, grapes, apricot, flowers, sweet grains, vinous, yeast, some light hints of ash, light bay leaf/liquorice ish tone, chocolate and malt roast. Flavours of berries, light vinous, light tart, some grapes, some chocolate, smooth light roast tint, some yeast, dry tones, some light mocha and malt roast ashy tints and some wood roast. Mostly vinous sour fruity tones than any roast coffee chocolate tones... Aftertaste is tart with berries, grapes, some wood, some yeast and vinous tones. Medium carbo, creamy mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture. Strange, itís too fruity and tart and for 11%ABV extremely drinkable!

Bottle from Bobbyís in Santa Clara. Pours black with no head. Aroma is strong and strange. Maybe a little coffee and strange berry. Med + body. Flavor is sort of sour stout with odd fruits and some oakiness. Maybe touch of smoke with treacle. Finishing moderately, but nicely, sour.

Bottle. Pours opaque black with very little head; mainly a ring of brown that leaves some lacing. Aroma is sour, lemon, roasty, cocoa, perhaps some oakiness, but no real alcohol - were they wine barrels? Flavor is the same, roasty, chocolate, sour cherry, sour milk. Light sweet, medium sour, sourness persisting to far finish. Body fairly full and creamy. Just a bit of funk as well. What is so fucking funny is that this is clearly an infected beer; the more that I drink it, the more I am sure of that, and yet I am sitting here trying to rate it hedonistically as if it were a sour stout. The scores I am giving reflect that attempt. Its actually not that bad, but there are enough off notes mixed in that I canít see how it is getting 4ís.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2013 500ml bottle. Sour, roasty aromas. Pours black with some tan head, vanishing, some lacing. Medium to full body, oily txt, soft carbonation. Taste is quite sour, raisins, caramel, roasty. A dark and robust ale with interesting sour notes. More mature as it tempers, more into wood and liquor, sourness vanishes.Nice one.

Fantastic and really black and heavy beer from this norwegian craft brewery! The taste is filled with sweetness and coffee and all the flavours you think of when sipping to your beer in front of the fireplace. Well-balanced, a bit bitter, and hints of smoke.

Black color with small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, oak, chocolate malt, sourness. Taste of roasted malt, oaky chocolate, quite vinous. Some roasted malt in there. A sour caramel finish. Was looking forward to try this and it didnt disappoint. More sourness than i expected but thats up my alley.

Solid black with a light brown head. Aroma is smoked wood, grilled mushrooms, roasted grains. Medium bodied, slightly creamy mouthfeel, slightly tart on the palate with a slightly nutty finish. Taste is plum, chocolate, Pinot noir, dates, hint of smoke and coffee. Slightly unusual but very enjoyable.
