Odins Tipple was meant to be a strong beer, but we changed our minds...its still strong but we wont follow the mega strong trend. It should be possible to make great beer without the extreme alcohol potency. Odins Tipple is now approx 11% abv, it’s a dark almost black beer from lots and lots of chocolate malt. Its the malt that contributes the flavor...no added coffee or anything else, Its got a great body without being old engine oil and still very drinkable due to the wild yeast we use. This beer is made with a single strain of wild yeast and the recipe is dead simple.

Pitch perfect black, small brown head. Quintessential Imperial Stout aromas of roasted malt, raisins, chocolate, soy, with a slight dry aroma, like a porter. Large taste of bitter almonds, marzipan, chocolate, vanilla extract, cacao and soy, leading to a bitter, alcoholic finish. Slight chemical aftertaste.

Pours black liquid with a very thin mocca head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is roasted malt and coffee. Taste is perfectly balanced, malt sweetness and coffee biterness. Wish I could get my hands on the barrel aged version of this.

Pours pitch black with a small lasting tan head and nice lacing. Amazing strong aroma of coffee, toffee and nuts that mutates into something smoky herbal / heather-like. Taste is strong bittersweet but nothing over-exagerated. Full body, low carbonation, quite drinkable for an imperial. Excellent!

Bottle, batch 487, enjoyed 4 years after brewdate. O yes! Valhallas big oaken structures, with it’s open fire pits, and Odins newly oil treated throne with all his leather paraphernalia. And a long ship filled with exotic plunderings thrown in, for good measure. The brew pours pitch black, with a brown, creamy head receding to a thin layer. Aroma is dark roasted malts, with bread, leather, cocoa and muscovado, as well as liquorice and dark fruity notes. Full, creamy body, with average carbonation. Flavour is burned malts, with bread, coffee, liquorice and muscovado, as well as cocoa, and notes of wood and ropes lingering throughout the finish. So, off to Bifrost...

Pours almost black, with a moderate brown head. Aroma of dry roasted malt and wood. Taste is first of all sour, but not in the acidic way, rather more oilish and complex, red berries are noticeable together with cherry and hints of liquorice. Long aftertaste, starts sweet, ends with dark alcoholic notes, an outstanding beer.
