Odins Tipple was meant to be a strong beer, but we changed our minds...its still strong but we wont follow the mega strong trend. It should be possible to make great beer without the extreme alcohol potency. Odins Tipple is now approx 11% abv, itís a dark almost black beer from lots and lots of chocolate malt. Its the malt that contributes the flavor...no added coffee or anything else, Its got a great body without being old engine oil and still very drinkable due to the wild yeast we use. This beer is made with a single strain of wild yeast and the recipe is dead simple.

Bottle:   Pitch black, large frothy brown head, sticky lacing.   Amazing how thick and black this is.   Sweet roasted malt, lactose, slight campfire and peat.   Seems like a cross between a Scottish Ale and perhaps an Imperial Stout.   On the tongue it is very roasty, but also has big heaps of campfire, charred wood, peat, and lactose.   Body and mouthfeel are smooth and robust.   Not overly heavy like other Imperial Stouts.   Has a bit of a coffee aspect on the finish.   Very malty, low hop aspect, which is expected for a Norsk beer.   Sweet, roasty, loads of lactose, peat, charred wood, campfire.   This is not your average Imperial Stout.   It is much like Robust Porter crossed with an Imperial Scottish or something.   Hops are low, malts are high.   Very flavorful.   At first I thought it said Odinís Tripple... and when I poured it I thought what retard didnít do his/her homework.   It was me who needed to do the homework.   As is, very robust and flavorful beer.   Once again, proud to be Norwegian.   This is a very unique and flavorful Imperial Stout.

Black beer, brown creamy head, stays long with nice lacing on the glass. Aroma: cocoa, dark chocolate, minimal coffe, minimal funky notes, some old strong wine notes (porto/sherry). Taste: a lot of chocolate and cocoa, roaste bitter finish with hint of alcohol. Palate: full body, low carbonation, warming up alcohol. Overall: good stout, present of wild yeasts is almost none. Reminds me of Hornbeer Imperial Stouts.

draft sampler. a singularly complex beer made with roasted chocolate malts and other roasted malts, no coffee. the nose is substantial on the roastiness of the chocolate, very inviting to the nose and the palate. a simplistic yet very delicious chocolate stout that warms the soul. just wonder if they will ever do a barrel age one of these...amazingly good.

Impenetrable black with small mocha head. Could be mistaken for liquid from a prehistoric tar pit - very slick and sticky. Almost overwhelming aroma - huge treacle, freshly milled hardwood timber, dark chocolate, leather. The taste is equally massive - treacle, toffee, mocha coffee, dark chocolate, light oak. Lighter bodied than anticipated but probably more drinkable for it. Slick and oily, as the appearance suggests. Really, really very good.
