4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 5000 (5000) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - OCT 16, 2010Bottle:   Pitch black, large frothy brown head, sticky lacing.   Amazing how thick and black this is.   Sweet roasted malt, lactose, slight campfire and peat.   Seems like a cross between a Scottish Ale and perhaps an Imperial Stout.   On the tongue it is very roasty, but also has big heaps of campfire, charred wood, peat, and lactose.   Body and mouthfeel are smooth and robust.   Not overly heavy like other Imperial Stouts.   Has a bit of a coffee aspect on the finish.   Very malty, low hop aspect, which is expected for a Norsk beer.   Sweet, roasty, loads of lactose, peat, charred wood, campfire.   This is not your average Imperial Stout.   It is much like Robust Porter crossed with an Imperial Scottish or something.   Hops are low, malts are high.   Very flavorful.   At first I thought it said Odin’s Tripple... and when I poured it I thought what retard didn’t do his/her homework.   It was me who needed to do the homework.   As is, very robust and flavorful beer.   Once again, proud to be Norwegian.   This is a very unique and flavorful Imperial Stout.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 bob_w (22) - New York, USA - JUN 15, 2013
for a dark, 11% beer with brett, this one is extremely smooooth. stout-black, with a thin but firm creamy head. mild brett aroma and pleasant brett flavor, melding with mild roast flavors. almost creamy smooth. doesn’t taste like an 11% beer -- no sharp edges.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20 Brenhophead (392) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUN 13, 2013
500mL bottle. Pours thick black with almost no head. Aroma of fresh roast coffee beans mixed with molasses. Deep complex flavour that includes coffee/toffee/molasses/licorice although it is almost flat. Worth a shot.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Lukaduke (1065) - Portland, Maine, USA - JUN 12, 2013
Pours a rich dark burnt umber color with a big sticky khaki head. Lots of roasted charred malt, bitter chocolate, coffee grounds, dark fruits, tar and a long roasty dank burnt finish. A whole different example of flavors that play amazing well with the wild yeast... a harmonious balance that take the roasty chocolate notes of a rustic stout and brett to a different level ! Must Try.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 NikkTwist (964) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 31, 2013
Draft at Farmers Cabinet. Pitch black pour. Small dark brown head. Deep dark Imperial Stout. Unsweetened chocolate. Kerosene infused charcoal. Asphalt. Tailpipe. Liquid smoke. Liquorice. Melted vinyl record. Heady alcohol. Despite the black flavors it has a clean juicy body. Great stuff.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 WheatKing (744) - Oak Bay, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 29, 2013
Pours black with a beautiful lasting brown head. Aroma is huge dark malt, coffee, chocolate. Flavour is intense richness, licorice, even vinous... I guess that’s where the wild yeast comes in? Mild alcohol in the finish but it’s really well integrated. Velvety viscosity. This is a fantastic imperial stout, a real black hole.
4.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 Hemogoblin (18) - - MAY 27, 2013
Oh my. Aroma is weak, not much there, smoke perhaps? But wow, this thing is an incredible porter/stout hybrid. Milk chocolate, corn, wheat, light coffee. FRENCH TOAST, maple, cinnamon, butter. Banana, vanilla, butterscotch. Bloody hell, this is good.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bluejacket74 (1012) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - MAY 25, 2013
500 ml bottle, Batch 507 (3500 bottles). Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch and a half brown head that didn’t stay around for too long. There’s a decent amount of lacing. The brew smells like roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate and burnt/charred malt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s the addition of some dark fruit and licorice. It starts off with the burnt/charred/roasty flavors being the strongest, but the dark fruit flavors come out more as the beer warms up. There’s also a lingering bittersweet finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s creamy and oily with good carbonation. I think this is a pretty nice brew, I don’t know why it took so long for me to try this one. $9.99 a bottle.
