Odins Tipple was meant to be a strong beer, but we changed our minds...its still strong but we wont follow the mega strong trend. It should be possible to make great beer without the extreme alcohol potency. Odins Tipple is now approx 11% abv, itís a dark almost black beer from lots and lots of chocolate malt. Its the malt that contributes the flavor...no added coffee or anything else, Its got a great body without being old engine oil and still very drinkable due to the wild yeast we use. This beer is made with a single strain of wild yeast and the recipe is dead simple.

Bottle:   Pitch black, large frothy brown head, sticky lacing.   Amazing how thick and black this is.   Sweet roasted malt, lactose, slight campfire and peat.   Seems like a cross between a Scottish Ale and perhaps an Imperial Stout.   On the tongue it is very roasty, but also has big heaps of campfire, charred wood, peat, and lactose.   Body and mouthfeel are smooth and robust.   Not overly heavy like other Imperial Stouts.   Has a bit of a coffee aspect on the finish.   Very malty, low hop aspect, which is expected for a Norsk beer.   Sweet, roasty, loads of lactose, peat, charred wood, campfire.   This is not your average Imperial Stout.   It is much like Robust Porter crossed with an Imperial Scottish or something.   Hops are low, malts are high.   Very flavorful.   At first I thought it said Odinís Tripple... and when I poured it I thought what retard didnít do his/her homework.   It was me who needed to do the homework.   As is, very robust and flavorful beer.   Once again, proud to be Norwegian.   This is a very unique and flavorful Imperial Stout.

Jet black color, brown head. Coffee nose, licorice, dried fruit, roasted malt, chocolate. Espresso and dark chocolate taste, licorice, fruity, bitter finish, well hidden alcohol. Full body, soft carbonation, oily texture, warming alcohol.

Aroma is deep rich malts, brown sugar, dark fruits and light smokiness. Taste is sweet malts, complex fruits and candy sugars. Finishes with slight liquor warmth and slight bitterness. Well balanced. Appearance is black with a medium dark brown head that retains fairly well.

Strong notes of soy sauce and alcohol. Beautiful brown sugar-like foam, endurant and slightly pesky palate with red wine-like feeling. Good. A bit too powerful at impact, and slightly ephemeral foam.

BOTTLE. Black with thick brown/orange head. Sticky molasses on the nose, which rolled into burnt malts & toffee with a big thick finish. A meal in a bottle. Sourced Cellarbrations Capel

500 mL bottle from the Crowfoot Co-op in Calgary, served in a stem glass. Pours black with a moderate brown head that remains as a thin cover and leaves a hint of fine lace. The nose has lots of roasted malt, earth, herbs, caramel and a touch of smoke. The flavour is medium-sweet with roasted malts, espresso, herbs, smoke, earth and a touch of anise. The finish is long and herbal with anise and roasted malts. On the palate it is full in body with a creamy texture and average carbonation. Overall, a nice imperial stout on the drier end of the spectrum; somewhat reminiscent of an imperial porter. 2014-09-28

Bottle poured into a tulip -- Been passively looking for this beer for about 3 years now, and finally success. A jet black brew that you can tell is a good stout. The sour yeast adds a nice dimension that can keep you pondering this brew until the very last.

Bottle. Aroma is intensive dark chocolate and coffee, some liquorice and alcohol. Black colour, brown head. Too much alcohol for me. So-so.
