COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a robust porter with lots of dark malts of various kinds with a smooth taste and a nice fruitiness from the hops and a dryish aftertaste that lingers. 34 IBU’s

Bottle at RBESG grand tasting, August 2005. I think this brewery is still feeling its way a little. Most of the beers I tried were well made, with no obvious faults, but didn’t really shine. Rich, deep brown colour. Lots of smoky malt with some bitterness. Caramel malt and some light tarry notes. Quite a fair amount of residual sweetness. Seems to mix up elements of a porter, a Baltic porter and a brown ale. The mouthfeel is rather thin. Needs a bit more focus and power.

larsga (7155) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 25, 2005
Poured so carefully by the host that it had no head; deep dark wine-red body. Deep, firm, sweet, chocolate, toffee and coffee aroma. Almost too sweet. Deep, sweet (again, I know) taste, of burnt, toffee, with chocolate overtones. Faintly watery. Fades into lingering burntness, with lots of coffee. Very nice, although too sweet, and perhaps too clinging, for a proper porter. In the end, this is quite good.

Dark brown, small but lasting offwhite head. Nutty and milky aroma, malty, some peanuts, vanilla and creamy notes. Flavor is nutty and milky. A bit thin, hoppy and with a hoppy finish along with some coffee and cocoa.

Roastiness in the aroma is strongly suggestive of coffee and chocolate. Opaque dark brown body with large bubbled tan head that recedes to ring. Roasty, somewhat chalky flavour is quite bitter with some finishing sweetness. Medium body with lively, crisp carbonation. Bottle sampled at RBESG 2005.

Bottle, thanks Per. Very dark in color for a porter, stoutish. Flavor/aroma was coffeeish and roasty mostly with touches of chocolate. Flavor was slightly salty and acidic. Burnt flavor on the finish.

Bottle. Quite nice, but it just felt a bit thin. Some nice smooth chocolate characters, slightly roasty towards the finish. Finishes a bit short. With a bit more body this could have been quite good.

Bottled. Fast disappearing head. Sweet and slightly metallic aroma. Flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate. Watery mouth feel. OK, but could use more attitude.

Bottled. Pours a dark brown. Aroma is of roasted malts, Hints of coffee and a yeasty fruityness. Taste is fruity at first, then a roasted bitterness kick in. Medium dry aftertaste

RBESG05: Dark brown in colour. Choco, roast coffee, loads of great flavours. Quite dry, and quaffable.

Bottled at RBESG. Near black. Sweet and roasty. Salty and tarry with notes of licorice and coffee. Surprisingly light bodied with clean mouthfeel and striking bitterness.
