COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Røyk Uten Ild (Smoke Without Fire) is our smoky beer, here we have tried to make a beer as smoky as we can using our smoked malt from Weiermann. We have made a fairly dark and flavourful beer. Apart from the special malt the rest of the malt bill (86%) is smoked malt. You could also say that this is a smoked wheat beer, because we have used our wheat beer yeast here. The beer is not scary but actually very nice even for those that aren’t smoke beer fanatics....try it and you will see. Contains malted barley, Amarillo hops, wheat beer yeast, and lots of smoked malt from Bamberg, Germany. 8% alc, 33 ibu, 48 ebc. Serving temp 8 - 12C or 46 - 53F.

Bottle. Very dark brown with an off-white head, moderate creamy, medium lasting, moderate lacing. Aroma is light smoky with hints of caramel, slightly coffee and roasted malts. Flavor has notes of roasted malts, moderate smokyness, leather and meat, slightly sweet notes. The final is roasty with notes of light bitterness and smoke.

Bottle. Pours brown, tan head. Aroma of campfire, toffee, berry, roast. Flavour is campfire, licorice, berry, roast. Simple but rockin’. Drank it with a friend just getting into craft, warned her away from it because of the smoke but she ended up calling it the best beer she’d ever had so there ya go.

DocJitsu (1031) - Florida, USA - SEP 4, 2013
Pours a murky tobacco brown color with a large tan head with good retention. White pepper, cola, and medium-roast malt on the nose. Mouthfeel is smooth with fine scrubbiness on the rear of the palate. Medium-roast malt and some ripe, dark fruit flavors. Finishes with a Hickory, Liquid Smoke flavor.

Big, smooth, rich and smokey. Really liked this it was brilliant. Would need to buy another to go over again but I just remember the smooth rich and great smokey aspects that made up this beer. Great with the rib eye steak cooked on the BBQ.

Nydelig mørk farge med stort tett skum. Smaken er noe søt med fyldig maltpreg og en del mindre røyksmak enn jeg hadde forventet. En god øl som varer.

Wow! The aroma of this beer cannot be adequately described. It smells from the first moment we opened the bottle like someone had unpacked a delicious smoked sausage; instantly mouth-watering and unique, layered atop the scent of good beer. Aroma: Delicious smoked sausage, and good beer. The use of the wheat ale yeast means that it carries a much lighter aroma for the beer than one would expect; but it’s absolutely and by far the most delicious smelling beer I’ve ever had the pleasure of engaging. Appearance: Pours a dark cola with very thin tan head. Taste: Very, very reminiscent of Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout, with a gentle astringency and powerful earthy malt tones that fade into strong chocolate/coffee notes at the back. Sweet and delicious. The taste develops across multiple sips, opening up wonderfully. Palate: Pleasantly astringent with light carbonation, a little residual fizz and moderate astringency on the tongue and palate. Overall: This is the best smelling beer I’ve ever enjoyed. By far. I want to sit and huff this beer for hours. Taste-wise, it’s an excellent stout-like taste with a little more hops than I’d like, but it is delicious nonetheless. If you’re looking for a real pleaser and enjoy aromatic stouts/imperial stouts, this one is absolutely for you. Hats off to Haandbryggeriet!

DuffMan (6980) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 16, 2013
Bottle, shared with Parksy. Deep red-brown body with a finely bubbled head that shows mediocre retention. Aroma is sweet caramel, meaty smoke, undercurrents of dark fruits. The meaty smokiness plays nicely off the sweet malts here, with enough balance to allow underlying flavours of raisins and chocolate to shine through. Dry, peanut-skin bitterness. Marred slightly by an overabundance of carbonation.

500 ml bottle courtesy of jesterdeal. Thanks. Pours a nearly opaque dark brown color with a big foamy khaki colored head that has great retention. The aroma is somewhat mild for a smoked beer with smoke, roasted grains and some ripe dark fruits. The taste is wonderfully complex with Bamberg smoked malts, wheat, dark chocolates, leather and bitter walnuts. The palate is full and viscous with soft carbonation. Finishes long and dry with a bit of lingering smoke. Overall: Very tasty--Great smoked beer.
