Ryk Uten Ild (Smoke Without Fire) is our smoky beer, here we have tried to make a beer as smoky as we can using our smoked malt from Weiermann. We have made a fairly dark and flavourful beer. Apart from the special malt the rest of the malt bill (86%) is smoked malt. You could also say that this is a smoked wheat beer, because we have used our wheat beer yeast here. The beer is not scary but actually very nice even for those that arent smoke beer fanatics....try it and you will see. Contains malted barley, Amarillo hops, wheat beer yeast, and lots of smoked malt from Bamberg, Germany. 8% alc, 33 ibu, 48 ebc. Serving temp 8 - 12C or 46 - 53F.

Bottle. Pours an opaque brown, surprisingly light/bright. In my excitement I poured the dregs. Has a half finger of tan fine tan head. Aroma is smoke, smoked malt, mesquite, caramel, soy sauce, and alcohol. Flavor is bitter up front, fading into smoked and roasted malt tones, caramel and cocoa hints. Finishes mildly hoppy and bitter. Soft to moderate carbonation and medium-full body. Smooth texture. Flavorful and balanced, the hops provide a nice contrast to the smokiness. For some reason however, I wish it were a little smokier. This is a very good beer.

Visual: A rather simplistic label compared to their regular lineup. Pours cloudy beer bottle brown with a smallish very long lasting micro foamy head, a small layer of retention, a bit of lacing, tons of varied speed active streams. Nose: Charcoal smoke immediately jumps out, malt, a bit of brown sugar, molasses. (lvl-6)-pungency Attack: crisp, silky smooth mouthfeel, creamy Mid-palate: (lvl-6)-sweetness, (MAIN) brown sugar liquid malt, cola, molasses, woodiness, hints of anise, coffee Finish: minor smokiness, cacao nib bitterness, subtle soft bitter hops, malty sweet finish. Summary: Quite and engaging cacao sweet malty beer that grabs and holds your attention. Excellent balance and "lightness" that keeps you sipping.

pours murky light brown with a very nice creamy beige head showing good retention and lacing. smoked dark spicy, fruity and nutty malts - never bacony, layered in nice smoky caramelized almonds, very woodsy if not woody - with its astringency, cherry piths and other red fruits, hint of sweetness - brown sugar, molasses and caramel, grassy and very peppery. light carbonation, light to medium body - oily, boozy and assertive astringent-woody-grassy-peppery finish. enjoyed a lot this one!

Thanks Tony! Reddish brown, mostly clear. Aroma is smoky bacon. Flavour is quite deceiving, the smoke is strong, but its certainly not overpowering, and the beer is actually lighter in body than i had expected. Its really quite nice. Smoke and caramel, wood and fruit. Neat.

500 ml bottle. Pours a very cloudy dark reddish brown with a nice beige head. Aroma is smoked, woody, salty, malty, pine tree. Flavor is loads of malt, roasted caramel, somewhat woody, pine tree. Finish is tons of smoke, old smoke, very intense smoke. Smoke! Lingering...smoke...and wood. But, yeah. Smoke. Its a smoked ale, yknow? Medium to full body, soft mouthfeel, weak to average carbonation. Loved every sip.
