4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black body with a large, creamy, light-brown head that stays large for a long time before settling as an everlasting, thick layer that laces the glass very well. This is how a dark beer should look like! The aroma is strong and very inviting. Itís roasted with coffee and chocolate, dark malts and a gentle touch of smoke. This dark side plays very well with the lighter hoppy and fruity background. The taste is moderate to light sweet with moderate plus bitter finish that is long-lasting and light dry. Strong and delicious flavours with a perfect amount of light smoke and ash together with roasted coffee notes. Fruits, citrus and berries in the back. Medium body, oily texture and soft carbonation. Lovely stuff!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500mL bottle, pours near black with a medium beige head that lingers a long while. Aroma of roasted malt, light smoked malt, and some citrus hops. Flavour brings out big notes of smoked and roasted malt upfront, followed by medium strength hop notes which are obscured by the smoke. The smoke lingers on the finish, along with a medium bitterness. Good, but flawed.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thick inpenetrable black with inch of foam. Aroma is toast, leather, citrus. Taste is restrained but punchy - itís led by the malt, really - with rich toast, espresso. Hops come through primarily in significant bitterness rather than any particular aroma. More stout than CDA. Although perfectly fresh it may be a different story. Iím still happy to drink it though!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Vika Vinmonopolet (Oslo, Norway, 17/1/13)
Aroma: Salt water, citrus, and some roasted malt.
Appearance: Dark brown, with an enormous foamy beige head. Good lacing.
Taste: A lot milder than expected. Medium bitterness, and a slight sourness.
Palate: Light-to-medium body, thin texture, and a soft carbonation.
Black IPAs seem to be getting very popular in Scandinavia as of late. This one was a little underwhelming. The smokiness is sort of hidden away.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, 50 cl. Opaque murky brownish black with a creamy and lacing beige head. Sweet aroma of roast and condensed campfire with a whiff of citrusy hops. Velvety, smooth mouthfeel, medium body. Sweet heavy roastiness, licorice, citrusy hops and a smoky, bitter finish. Nice take on the style, perfectly integrated smoke works well with the hops.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Didnít care for this at first, but itís a grower. Big PNW hops and some smokey bacon on the nose as it warms. Bountiful, tight head which leaves lovely lacing. Lots of roast character, big citrus bitterness and an underlying smokiness as it warms. Decent length on the finish with the hops sticking around fo the after party in the mouth.
