2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 MillStreetMan (152) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 17, 2005
Wow. About the last thing I expected to find in Mexico was a locally brewed porter (their definition, although it’s not too far off the mark). The bottle is amazing, and the beer’s not bad either. It’s a bit malty and treacly, but has a good deal of caramelly character, with a smoky, chocolate, coffee flavour. Quite nice, and certainly unique.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 PeterA (340) - SLOVAK REPUBLIC - JUN 19, 2004
Lot 107: Dark black with a thick brown head. The aroma however is smokey, electical fire smokey, not quite right. Chocolate and roasted flavors. The palate is thickish, but it has a chaulky texture. When I bought it, I was told it was best served very cold, and it probably is, but it’s just not a great beer.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 ghawener (1243) - San Salvador, EL SALVADOR - MAY 24, 2004
Bottle: Black with a heavy brownish head that quickly dissolves. Smells of burnt coffee and chocolate, taste is bitter and smokey. Comes in a very cool blue bottle with a long neck. Not the best brew though.
