3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, pours a clear darker orange with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts, a touch of smoky wood, and some light fruitiness. Flavour reveals notes of dark fruits, toasted malt, and a little toffee. Well-balanced, with a good amount of sweetness. Solid stuff.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml swingtop. Amber color, reddish fire hue to it. Smell is malty, some hop and alcohol perfume, dark fruits, hint of oxidized mint. BB is 06/15 so relatively fresh. Flavor is sweet malty, some dark caramel booze, nuttiness. Decent but not one of the better doppelbocks of the big 6.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Started a bit to early on this. To cold. It was actually a bit unpleasant when it was to cold. Changed definitely to the better at right temperature. Clear amber color with a fine off white head. Good lacing. Looks nice this one. Lovely fruity, bready, nutty and malty aroma. Thick nice body. Tad sweet and a moderate bitterness. Smooth fruity, toffee, nutty and malty flavor. Really nice and tasty doppelbock.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500, swingtop. Pours a murky dark amber with a loose and creamy thin white head that fades. Big fresh malt sugar nose, with raisins, caramel, vanilla, and a bit of toffee. Creamy medium body with very little carb. Raisins, caramel, vanilla, and toffee on the mid palate, with a mild sweet finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Beautiful dark amber color and a thick head that quickly fades. Initial aroma has malt and alcohol. Considerable alcohol in the flavor, some brown sugar; a little fruit and some sugar. Good palate; and overall good beer even if alcohol is somewhat more prominent than I would like. Not quite in the same league as Celebrator; Scheyern; or Andechs, but still very good.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bought in Munich in May, now drinking in October. Strong woody aroma, taste is caramelly but not sweet. Not bitter at first in the tongue, but fairly bitter in aftertaste. Almost no foam, and at least not lasting in the glass. Nice bubbles on the tongue. Quite agreeable overall.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
0.5l bottle. Cleer deep ruby body, white head. Aroma of caramel, toast, roast and some floral hops. Taste is very similar to the aroma. Caramel, roast, toast, dark fruits and floral hops. Although the high alchohol is noticeable, it’s still quite smooth for a doppelbock. Very nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: FEB 26, 2015 500ml bottle. 10/14. Pours a slightly opaque deep amber with a large, foamy, tan head which quickly settled to a ring and minimal lacing. Aroma of caramel, wood, raisins and marzipan. Medium sweetness and some dark chocolate taste. Silky smooth palate with some sherry in the finish and a pleasant, warming reminder that it’s 8.1%abv. A very good beer and true to type, it just didn’t ’wow’ me.
