Single from the LCBO. Big creamy warm cap. Hazy golden-amber colour. Sweet peachy wheat smell with light spices and hints of bananas, yeasty vanilla. Slight tart mouthfeel, but a little bland. Light wheat taste with again, hints of bananas. An easy German wheat to enjoy in summer. Not as good right now as finishing a bad winter.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Alengrin (3024) - BELGIUM - FEB 14, 2015
Tasted as Hacker-Pschorr Weisse. Classic Bavarian Hefeweizen with very thick, rocky, stable, frothy, yellowish white head with good lacing; colour a brownishly hued peach blonde, misty with strong fizz piercing through. Spicy and even somewhat sharpish, but pleasant aroma of cloves, nutmeg, dried apricot, hint of banana, dried leaves, straw, cardboard (probably from ageing too long), mango, baker’s yeast, starch, toasted bread. Refreshing in the mouth as expected, with a kind of ’dried’ fruitiness at first, strongish carbonation, rounded, soft and smooth, somewhat starchy mouthfeel, sourish wheat accent accompanying the fruitiness; dryishly yeasty and wheaty finish with retronasal spiciness, as well as a hint of floral and herbal hops with a lightly bittering effect. Very quenching, a well-crafted Hefeweizen indeed, with its own personality, in laying more emphasis on the dry spiciness of the Weizen yeast than the banana-like fruitiness.

Murky yellow color with a little bit of white head. Light citrus aroma. Light wheaty taste with with good smooth taste. I wonder if there is banana in there. Leaves a little dry taste behind that begs for another sip.

Bottle from the LCBO. Murky dark gold pour with a large white head that lingers, Nose is wheat and banana with bread, light toffee and light spice. Lightly sweet and tart with even lighter bitterness. Pear and raspberry with some cloves and nutmeg appear after a while. medium light body with prickly carbonation and a dry finish. Excellent Weisse.
