Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Feb 7, 2009 Pours a cloudy dark brown with a large fluffy off-white head. The nose is a solid, sweet, hearty wheat malt with supporting notes of dark caramel and clove. Light bodied and fairly aqueous with a slight wheaty graininess and a clean finish. Sweet, grainy, subtle dark caramel wheaty malt and cloves. A fairly straightforward dunkelweizen, it’s not particularly exciting, but it is very drinkable. jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA Feb 3, 2009 Bottle: Light brown and orangish pour with a thin head. Nose is fruity with yeast and cloves. Tastes soft and mellow. Malty sweet fruity with more light spices. Rather tame. OD40oz (600), Box Elder, South Dakota, USA Jan 23, 2009 Another german beer, another dissapointing waste of money. Pours like iced tea with little to no head. Smells like the typical sour german dunkelweizen. Had a wheaty, sour banana taste. I am so glad I don’t live in Germany so I don’t have to drink shitty ass beers. I don’t know how people drink this type of shit. Jsawyer (282), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 17, 2009 Bottled "Weisse Dark" so I’m assuming its the Dunkle. Poured hazy amber with a thick frothy head. Smelled sweet and spicy wheat, caramel, hay, citric, and softly fruity. Flavor was obvious wheat and sweetly citric almost mandarin orange with clove undertones. It was smooth and finished with a clean carbonated bite. I don’t usually like Weisse but this one was sessionable. SODAK14 (106), Rapid City, South Dakota, USA Jan 15, 2009 Nice overall beer. Pours a hazy tan with a medium head. I thought it was just OK at first but it reallt grew on more the more I had. JesseM (661), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Jan 14, 2009 On tap at the Kick Off in Waterloo, University Plaza. Taps your ideal looking Dunkelweisse, hazy brown with a medium light brown head. Aroma is wheat malts with some clove and spice, but nothing too pronounced. Flavour is decent for a style I’m not crazy about, very much on the sweeter side of things, which I like, but still mild, some herbal Earthyness to complement the sweet malts but nothing to over powering. Mildly carbonated for the style which is something I can definitely appreciate. I like the mildness of this one, not anywhere near as obnoxioiusly spicy as Paulaner Dunkelweisse, though it does remind me of it. This wouldn’t be my first choice in the Hacker-Pschorr line up, but if it’s my only option from them I won’t turn my nose up at it. Glad to have tried it. scrizzz (1252), kirkland, Washington, USA Jan 13, 2009 Such a go-to beer! Dark roast, ripe banana, some nutmeg. Muddy brown, medium haze, dense creamy head. Soft gritty wheat character, more ripe banana, lingering sweet finish. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jan 8, 2009 Very dark orangeish brown with a finger of smooth light tan head. Bananas and caramel, light wheat. Body is prickly carbonation which is distracting. Taste is light melted caramels, light clove spiciness.
