Brewed with 60 percent wheat, 40 percent barley - using top fermenting yeast, it is then slowly lagered and remains unfiltered throughout the finish.

Pours a cloudy golden color with a short, off-white head. The aroma is pretty wheaty and spicy. The flavors have the obvious banana and clove, but not to the point of being overdone. A good wheat beer, but not the best.

Highly recommended for someone who enjoys wheat beers. Ranks among my favorites along with hoegaarden, schneider, and wittekerke.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2003 Wonderful fruity-spicy aroma. Pours dark yellow, with an orange tinge. High carbonation, cloudy, rather thick head that is quite long lasting. Starts with a spicy taste, touch of sourness in the middle, but the finish is rather flat. But that is a minor complaint. Overall my favourite wheat. Refreshing, flavourful and priced right.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2004 One of my favorite treat beers. Always pours with a tall foamy white head. Cloudy orange color. Hint of banana flavor. Good balance and nice clean finish.

This is an exceptional wheat beer that should easily rank amongst the top Hefeweizen styled brews in the world. A textbook classic, featuring a cloudy copper toned appearance that allows for a giant foamy (bubble bath style) head to fill the glass. Head takes a considerable amount of time to dissipate and leaves extensive lacing around the glass. (Be sure to drink this one from a traditional Weissbier styled glass for full enjoyment). Super flowery aroma jam packed with the strength of its wheat base plus hints of citrus fruits, clove and a complex selection of malts. All of the aromas come through in the taste of this beer with complexities of its fruity palette shining through. A beer with great characteristics and with an extremely consistent behavior from the first sip to the very last drop. Enjoy it in good health. (NOTE: Based on a 500ml bottle sold under the HEFE WEISSE name in Canada. After much digging on the Internet it would appear that although the beer is often sold throughout the world as either WEISSE and HEFE WEISSE, the brew is supposedly the same thing despite packaging differences and the apparent availability of both versions at the same time from the same retailer.)

The beer has a faint, but pleasing aroma of wheat grass and citrus that seems almost floral. The color is opaque and somewhat golden, being very reminiscent of honey. The foamy head is medium in body and persists lightly until it is all gone. It has a nice, light wheat flavor with hints of vanilla and citrus. It’s smooth and goes down well, with but little aftertaste. Excellent beer.

Creamy unfiltered golden colour. Aley smell. Great mellow taste...somewhat citrusey, like hooegarden!

The appearence is between tea and honey. Aroma of yeast and butter. The flavour is acid and starchy.

Wheat beers aren’t my favorite, but my German-beer-loving younger brother adores Hacker-Pschorr so we had some for Christmas. I’m still not a lager convert or a weisse-head, but I did enjoy the refreshing almost cleansing flavor and subtly fruity character.

Cloudy gold. Abundant head, even though Max’s Allegheny Tavern serves all their beer in mason jars. Pretty much a good solid hefe, better than many. Spicy.
