Bottle at the Mermaid Inn, NYC--poured into small frosted water glass (uggh) but thankfully with no lemon garnish. Cloudy yellow with a frothy white head. Clean wheaty aroma with some mild banana and lemon essence. Clean wheat flavor, bright and lemony, with no heavy cloviness. Refreshing and quite good with my mediocre fish.

Bottle at Ulfborg RB tasting. Thanks a lot Missdolle. Poured hazy orange golden with a creamy head. Wheaty aroma with bubblegum notes and banana. I flavour clove, banana and wheat. Bit thin palate.

500ml bottle, bought in Toronto. Dark gold, slightly orange, darker than usual for the style, with a middling head. Fruity, spicy aroma of banana, clove, a hint of lemon and honey. Very rich. Has a rich, sweet, flavor, with lots of fruit and spice. Sweetish-style, not too sour at all, though not quite cake-like. Very well balanced and flavorful. One of the better ones, I think, and this in the bottle! Traveled well.

Aroma - Pungent clove, banana more subtle, toffee in the background, nice hefe aromas

Appearance - Cloudy tawny orange body under a voluminous, creamy white head that lasts nicely, and leaves some thick islands of lace

Flavor - Solid light malty sweetness initially, then a thirst quenching wheaty tartness comes into play, and just the softest of hop bitterness at the very end.

Palate - Medium body and carbonation, silky smooth, clean and dry on the finish.

Overall - A classic, well done hefeweizen in every regard.

Bottle @ TFODRBSG, Ulfborg, 2008.
[thank you, MissDolle]
Pours muddy yellow with a small, creamy, white head. Aroma is sweet, grainy and clear banana notes. Fine mouthfeel, okay balance. Sweet banana hits me first, then a serious maltiness and nice citric hoppy finish. Is there more?

(Bottle) Pours hazy yellow to light golden with a creamy white head. The aroma is sweet floral and wheaty with clear notes of banana. The flavour is of banana, wheat and flowers alongside a salty sting. The mouthfeel is soft and creamy. Light bitter and dry. Medium bodied.

Bottle. (Simply "Hacker-Pschorr Weisse" on the label.) Pour is a fizzy gold with a massive head. Aromas are heavy with bananas and cloves with a touch of lemon peel. Flavor is a nice combination of clove and banana driven wheatiness with some perceptible yeast and grass undercurrents and a bit of a citrus tanginess. Very nicely done beer.

As far as southern German weizen goes, this is a good one. Pours golden with a big white fluffy head. On tap at the Stadium Club at the White Sox U.S. Cellular Field. Smells of bananas, bubblegum, noble hops. Very nice example of the style.
