sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Sep 5, 2006 Bottle: Cloudy golden color with a medium white head. Aroma of yeast, bready wheat, and a bit of spice. Flavor is a little lemony and bready, with a bit of spice to back it up. thornecb (1735), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Sep 2, 2006 Pours hazy amber into a weizen glass. Bright white micro head with excellent retention. Clove notes. Upfront spicy clove with a sharp, bitter lasting finish. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Sep 1, 2006 Bottle. Hazy orange with a creamy white head, light carbonation. Heavy wheat and citrus odor, lightly sweet, light banana, light yeast, and even lighter bubblegum. Crisp, smooth, light pie crust / cracker malt in the mouth, light sweetness. Backs off from a tendency toward oiliness, but also leaves behind any chance at a full body. Wheat flavor is key. Very light sourness after a few swigs. Nothing here to really distinguish from any other German wheat, but this is well crafted. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 31, 2006 Pellucid amber with a thick white head. Very spicy nose with clove dominating the citrus and wheat. Lemon with some grassy notes as well. Flavor is rather malty with a good deal of wheat present, though. Strong citrus flavor with some clove but not nearly as much as the nose. Bitter hops tighten up the back of the mouth towards the end. Palate is a bit thin, almost watery. Not quite enough body. doubleipa (224), Georgia, USA Aug 29, 2006 Had this on tap at Taco Mac. Nice dense head with great lacing. Aroma is heavier on clove than some other hefe’s. It also had a little more of a hint of hope/citrusy. Taste had a little more of a bit than some others and more of malt presence. Definitley a decent hefe, but not quite as good as some others. MoreHead (355), Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA Aug 29, 2006 Updated: Nov 19, 2006had on tab at old chicago. nice orange citrus, sweet with banana and yeast. very enjoyable. barleyPops (1079), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA Aug 27, 2006 I’m sure I’ve had this pre-RB days but had a glass last night at a friends house. great appearance, hazy golden amber with a huge white head, slowly settling to lace that hangs around throughout the entire consumption. aroma and flavor is a wonderful mix of banana, clove, yeast and other citrus notes. a well done, true to style German hefe. Quillaraymi (88), USA Aug 26, 2006 Cloudy gold with a decent head. Initial taste wheat and yeast. Starts outs very doughy then becomes frutier with hints of banana and strong lemon. Carbonation is robust, mildly bitter. Well balanced.
