3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap labeled as maibock. Low carbonation. Dark gold and clear appearance. Light aroma of caramel and grain. Sweeter than many of this style with good hops in the finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml swingtop - clear gold - nose of honeyed maltiness, fruity and floral hallertauer, light mineral - creamy texture - clean and crisp, with a nice balance of sweet, lean maltiness, light esters, fruity and grassy hops - nothing knock your socks off, just clean, simple, and balanced - not the best in the style, but solid.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a clear gold-amber with a high, fine-grained, ivory head. Lots of visible carbonation. Nose is bread, stone fruit, apples, a touch of acetic acid, and a bit of caramel. Sweet on the front of the tongue, then shading into slight bitterness and spiciness. Heavier than it looks, which mutes its ability to be refreshing; caramel stays all the way through the mouth and is a little cloying. Finish is long and sweet. Pretty good.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
New Beer Distributors, NYC 50cl ($4.25): Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is ripe fruit, pale malt, and a pretty moderate amount of German hops. Taste is sweet at first, but then gets to be quite bitter around the finish. Moderate lingering hop and heller bock tastes. Feels just a bit off. Not the most pleasant beer. Something about heller bocks...

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Enjoyed on tap at Huber Haus in Omaha, NE in spring 2012
Review from notes
Served in a dimpled Weihenstephan mug
Arrives with a huge head that settles to a 0.5cm cap of foam atop the beer. Lacing is significant, a variety of shapes or patterns clinging to the sides of the glass. Body is a golden orange color, transparent with plenty of visible carbonation.
Malty, bready aroma with flowery hop presence are the dominant scents, with a background that is slightly grainy and honey-like. Not overly complex, but fairly deep and rich, allowing for it to be enjoyably breathed in frequently.
Opens with fairly bright, though still heavy in intensity, caramel malts, backed up by mild honey-like flavors and hop bitterness that is attenuated just under the malt. Mid-palate picks up waves of malt complexiy, from light to fairly caramelized malt sugars. Hop presence becomes somewhat flowery and slightly bitter. This is followed on back of tongue by darker malt sweetness and flowery hops. Lingering bitterness with mild caramel sweetness in the aftertate.
Medium-bodied with carbonation that is at first crisp, then peters out and leads to a smooth mouthfeel. Aftertaste is semi-dry, with some stickiness from malts.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
Serving: from tap at Schultzy’s Sausage.
Aroma: floral hoppy aroma.
Appearance: average-sized, rocky, white, initial head with fair lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Clear, medium-amber body.
Taste: moderately sweet initial flavor and finish with average duration.
Palate: medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation.
Overall: too sweet for my tastes.
