“Munich Gold” closely resembles our Münchner Hell in terms of taste and mainly owes its popularity to a slightly higher original gravity and the malty note. The result is a full-bodied yet mild taste which delivers an increasingly bitter note before culminating into an aromatic finish. A real treat for true beer connoisseurs!

The types of barley grown in the Swabian Jura and in the Upper Palatinate Region of Bavaria are excellently suited for the production of this timeless classic.

Hacker-Pschorr has been brewing beer in the traditional Bavarian manner since 1417. The high-quality beers the brewery produces are all brewed in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law and contain only water, malt and hops.

Clear, golden-yellow with a one-inch head. Good carbonation is clearly evident. Mild hop and faint malt aromas. Hop and malt balance is great. Very clean and crisp, but overall flavor is a very weak, even for its style. The mouthfeel is light but suits the style well, I suppose. Not terrible, but not impressive, either.

3 oct 2015, tap. gold, clear, steady bubbles. Nose is faintly sweet cereal malt and some lightly butter grassy, lager hops. Ned body, mildly creamy, moderately fizzy. Mildly sweet, golden syrup, slight lager skunkiness. Nice.

Difficile à décrire et à distinguer parmi d’autres Lager allemandes, mais elle est très agréable à déguster.

12-oz. bottle. Cereal and honey drive the sweet aroma while minor tones of reserved lemon and orange zest, a marigold-like floral note, a hint of toffee, and fresh-baked pie dough linger in the background. Bright golden straw in color with a nearly creamy head that’s the shade of beaten egg whites. The taste is subdued at first: a sweet bready maltiness is the only flavor to start before notes of wheat crackers and light biscuit become detectable. Touches of herbal honey and a gentle hint of hay float in the mix. There’s hardly any hop bitterness. The body is relatively light with soft carbonation, which is a bit surprising given the amount of nucleation present. A solid, clean Helles.

Clear, watery yellow colored, medium strong white head, nice lacing, not very lasting. Aroma is of sweet malt, grains, bit honey, some low herbal notes. Taste is moderate sweet malty, grainy, some honey on bread, low herbal bitterness, husky finish. Low to medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Nothing special...

Pours a clear yellow golden color, topped with a relatively big and quickly settling white foamy head. Mild grassy aroma, with some more pronounced bready and biscuity notes. A touch of caramel. Taste is a bit too sweet, slightly bready with very gentle bitterness in the finish. Light and easily drinkable, though a bit empty. Not too bad, but nothing special.

Caution light colour, unfiltered, pale lager. Sturdy thick ring of bubbly foam. Stale lemon aroma complimented with salt water. Spicy flavour of the top. Quick mouth feel and pleasing slightly bitter taste.

330 ml bottle into lager glass, best before 10/2015. Pours crystal clear bright golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of bready malt and earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice robustness and balance of bready malt and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors with minimal yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Helles. All around great robustness and balance of bready malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering. This is one of the best in the style I have had.

Traditional helles style. Trying a little german helles flight. Pretty good, light sweet malt with slight hop finish to balance.
