The pleasure of yesteryear
Velvety matte shine – Smooth, full-bodied flavor
Munich Kellerbier Anno 1417 shines with a seductive golden honey color. A beer with a distinctive character: earthy, bold, quaffable and yet refreshingly mild and light. Just like a real Bavarian.

Creamy and effervescent, typical of unfiltered beers, a delightful ticklish mouthfeel. Aromas of caramel, honey and plum dominate and emphasize the beer’s malty, spicy flavor. Unmistakable hints of apple and grapefruit bring in a fruity freshness.

Our Munich Kellerbier, a beer like from the good old days when beer was born. After aging four weeks, it is bottled unfiltered, which still preserves all its yeast vitamins and trace elements.

Since 1417, Hacker Pschorr stands for traditional Bavarian brewing. The quality beers of Hacker-Pschorr are all brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law and contain only hops, malt and water. 12.5°

Ok/Trevlig.

50cl swing-top bottle from Marks & Spencers, Camberley. A slightly hazy pale amber pour with a thick white head; grainy aroma with a touch of honey; quite lively in the mouth with a solid grainy body and a sweet grainy taste to start with; then a grassy bitterness with some spice, leaving a fresh grassy finish. Satisfying and moreish.

Might be overrating this because it’s my first time drinking a Kellerbier, but this is really interesting. Definitely unfiltered - a cloudy honey color. Nose of yeast and malt, and perhaps a bit of caramel and some light gala apple. Taste is grain and fruit and sweetness. There’s a hint of spice, perhaps hop, and a full mouthfeel. This is pleasant, kind of wild. Glad I tried it.

0,5L boca, zanimljivo pivo, lijepa zlatno žuta boja, nema neke izražene arome tako da bi rekao baš tipičan keller

on tap @ Paulaner Wirtshaus / Schwaebisch Gmuend Germany --- Aroma of wheat malt. loudy light amber, white head that drops to a full cover, sheets of lace. Taste is light wheat and malt that adds light carbonation, moving from there to a light citrus finish. Solid light brew - I’d buy it again

500ml swing top bottle at home in Richmond, as ’Hacker-Pschorr Münchner Kellerbier Anno 1417 Unfiltered Lager Beer’, 5.5%, BB Nov 2016. Very hazy dark orange, highly sparkling, head dies down very quickly. Aroma is white bread, Danish pastry, subtle citrus. Body is light, tingly carbonation, a little frothy. Taste is malt-forward, biscuity, sodawater, light metallics, some citrus fruit, fairly drying. More quenching fruit than expected, but too thin and fizzy for me to enjoy much. Maybe good for style, but just OK for me.

Dec. ’15. A 0.5 l fliptop bottle from a local Tommy supermarket. It poured almost clear darker amber body with medium sized head. Fine keller aroma - grainy, lightly stale malt. Flavor was lightly sweet, nice stale wet barly and egg malt, although it sounds strange now while writing. Medium to full body with long, lightly sweet finish. Not my style otherwise, but this was a very pleasant kellerbier with distinct style characteristics well integrated into a whole.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2016 500ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with a finger of white head. Aroma has notes of grain, caramel, traditional German hops, faint citrus, and fruity lager esters. Taste is balanced with a hint of cola to start, then grain, banana, earthy/spicy German hops, and a short ending. Medium body and carbonation. Clean and refreshing in the mouth with a lively carbonation. Overall an interesting beer. I really do get a touch of watered down cola in the taste.
