Dark in color, malty nose, generous flavor; yet with a clean, hoppy finish, Hacker-Pschorr Alt Munich Dark is the essence of dark beers.

Aroma of banana, clove, and bready malt. Pours a medium brown with a mild tan head that fades to a clinging lace. Tastes of bread malt, caramel, and a slight banana ester flavor. Some carbonic bite, slightly creamy. Delicious little beer.

On tap at the Hacker-Pschorr biergarten and restaurant in Regensburg. Easily the best Dunkel I’ve sampled yet. Aroma is subtle, only light hop presence, light roast, and hints of caramel. Subdued flavor, but very refreshing. Somewhat complex...different qualities emerge and vanish from the aroma. Very smooth. Not too sweet, full-bodied but light and easy to drink. Really enjoyable and I would gladly drink again.

Poured dark brown with medium head. Taste of roasted malt, alcohol, slightly bittery with a very subtle caramel aftertaste. Seemed like an ok dunkel, but nothing out of the ordinary. Might drink again.

Nettes, unspektakuläres Dunkel mit Malz, ein paar Nüssen und etwas Kaffeeröstung. Durchaus trinkbar, recht dünn, aber auch süffig. Ganz ok.

Pours out of the bottle in a deep light cloudy dark brown colour with low head and medium body. Aroma of yeast, malt and nuts. Taste of malt, dark roasted grains, wheat, bread, caramel, nuts and woods. Sweet finsih. Nice and easy to drink, yet nothing very special.

Draft at the Horse Brass in Portland, OR on 27 May 2013. Poured dark brown with a medium, dense off white head. Malty aroma with some dried fruit and caramel. Chewy malt flavours with some light spice and a little earthiness. Finish is fairly sweet, with some toffee and biscuit.
