COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark in color, malty nose, generous flavor; yet with a clean, hoppy finish, Hacker-Pschorr Alt Munich Dark is the essence of dark beers.

A decent "dark" beer, comparable to others in its class but not really a stand-out. I had the draft version.

Donkerbruin bier met schuim. Smaak is licht zoet en licht bitter, chokolade en noot achtig. Gedronken van tap in Hackerhaus Munchen.

Bottle, 10C. Clear brown with a pale beige head. Aroma of bread, nits, chocolate, grass. Lightish bodied with moderate carbonation. Easy going but tasty enough with sweet chocolate and bread but nice grass and spicy hops in a dryish finish. Pretty good in a style I still haven’t warmed to all that much.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - deep amber to chestnut, with a decent thin head. Nose - toffee, light biscuits (caramunich, I’m guessing). A hint of red fruit. Taste - tangy toffee, again a hint of red fruit, Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a dry finish. Overall - a solid Dunkel.

On tap at Hackerhaus Munich. Clear brown beer. Lasting beige head. Tasty dark beer. Like a lot of Munich beers it is made for easy drinking. It’s a light easy drinking no faults Dunkel. Malty but not overly so if anything a little watery. OK. Decent well balanced chocolate. Good.

Tried in bottle. Bought in Austria. Colour is dark brown/amber. Small white head, poor retention. Aroma is small. Some malt notes and yeast. Taste is malts, caramel and a slight earthy hops bitter finish. Mouthfeel is standard, same with carbonation. Nothing exciting but a tasty beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Der Pschorr in Munchen. The typical dunkel. Malty, caramel. Sweet but with a dryer finish when compared to HB. Very nice refreshing beer or to pair with local food.

What would it take for a beer to makle the Munich Dunkel style more exciting? The answer is not here. There’s some bittereness at the finish of this dark beer, it is not unpleasantly sweet, and nothing that insults the senses. But no matter what, it is still rather boring.
