This is the beer that they serve only at Oktoberfest. It is NOT sold in North America. It is a much lighter beer than the common Oktoberfest-Marzen.

Bottle in Garmisch: poured light yellow with a fairly large white head. Light grain and hop aroma. Straightforward flavor with some hops and malt. Easy drinking but did nothing for me after drinking a couple Paulaner Ocktoberfest beers. Decent.

Slightly malty but understated, not as heavy as expected. Reasonably hopped, better than other Bavarians Festbeirs. Good but not spectacular. A little bit watery on the feel but not on the taste.

Aroma:Light Pils and Munich malt aroma. Low sulphur (so4) and pool water mineral profile. caramel Appearance: Orange copper gold Little to no head formation Flavour: Toasty nuty and biscuity. Clean no esters but a light oxidized charater. Good assertive bitterness. Mouthfeel: Light bodied with prickly carbonation Overall: Light flavour, toasty, nutty, biscuity Munich malt and Pils character. Toastiness is excellent but the mineral charater is too intense. Finishes dry

Poured a dark golden hue with a head of foamy ivory that quickly dissapeared. The nose was of toasted malt and a floral/fruity hoppiness. The tatse starts with sweet malts, dark breads and some hints of toffee. Mild to medium bitters come next offsetting the malts. Tastes sweet, bitter, dry, malty and hoppy all at once. The finish was nutty, smooth and mildly bitter. The feel was moderate due to medium to low carbonation. This was a great session beer, and would do just as well in a large stein. A smooth, simple, malty beer, that’s great anytime.

On tap at Chaucer’s Pub in London, Ontario. Pours deep gold, with a 2 finger white foam. Awesome retention. This head lasts and lasts. Mild grass/hay with subtle malts. Very mildly hopped and slightly perfumey. Tastes are right in line with the aroma. Soft malt spine with mild grassy/hoppy flavours and a spalsh of rose petals. Very soft and subtle, very sessionable, very drinkable. Once you can learn to appreciate the subtlities in this one, it all opens up. Thanks for getting this one in Milos!

Draught @ beerbistro: Being billed by the bar as "Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfestbier", I hope it’s this one. Pousr yellow with almost no head, retention, or lacing. Bready aroma with some citrus and malt. Flavour is better than it sounds, but still comes across my senses as bread, corn, lemon, and malts. Some relatively hidden hopping leaves a bitter aftertaste. Not horrible, but I’m in no rush to try it again.

UPDATED: OCT 14, 2006 On tap at the castle in Kitchener Ontario Canada....so much for the Europe-only exclusivity of this beer. Tapped a brilliant gold with a tight 2 finger white cap...laced the glass well. Aromas of bread and wet hay, some light citrus Sufficient malt spine, creamy mouth feel, medium body, rounded malty character. Biscuity malts up front have a light toast to them... some sweetness which is quickly balanced with herbal-lemony nobel hopping...wet finish is malt pronounced with a biscuity-lemon after taste. This is not a true Oktioberfest marzen as it is too light in taste and body....to be truthful, this is a heavier maltier version of H-S edelhell...a sort of golden Munich lager...and although it is a good lager it is still not an Oktoberfest marzen in character.
