dmtroyer (409), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 17, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a fairly dark amber with an off-white head. Aromas of grain and malt, makes me think of a feed sack. Body follows with pretty serious malt flavor, a bit of caramel. Medium carbonation that tends to soft. This is a pretty heavy duty oktoberfest. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Oct 15, 2008 Looks very nice. Very drinkable and smooth. But pretty boring otherwise. popephred (193), Plainfield, Illinois, USA Oct 15, 2008 Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Pour produced a red-brown body topped by a small, quickly diminishing head of foam. Nose is slightly sweet with notes of spice and molasses. Flavor is on the sweet side with notes of burnt caramel. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Oct 14, 2008 Attractive deep ruddy brown pour with no head. The nose and flavor are subtly sweet with some roasted malt and caramel. Very dry finish. mwelsh13 (483), Maryland, USA Oct 12, 2008 12 oz bottle pours a medium golden brown with a small fluffy white head. Wheat aroma with some clove. Slightly sour, with wood, walnut, and caramel. Almost chewy but not thick. Slight hop bitterness with a dryness at the swallow. DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Oct 11, 2008
On tap @ The Abbot on the Hill.
Aroma of nicely toasted malt,a light fruitiness, like freshly peeled apple skins, copper, small cream head, pretty lace.
Taste is lovely roasted malt, caramel, flavour of pitfruits, woody, nutty notes too. Medium bodied, beautiful balance, wonderful mouthfeel. Splendid, an absolutely fine example. Ein Prosit! Kudos to The Abbot, first in Canada with this on tap! scoth (267), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Oct 11, 2008 12 oz Bottle. Pours clear amber with a medium beige head, good lacing. Fruity and malty aroma, of figs, raisins and caramel. Light, crisp body. Delicious malt flavor, fruity and sweet, but well balanced, with subtle pine, almost vegetable noble hop finish and slight aftertaste. Very refreshing and drinkable. emerica56 (575), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Oct 7, 2008 Pours a nut brown color with a thin head and some streaks along the sides of the glass. The nose is nice and nutty with hints of spice and bitter hops. The flavor is nice and bitter with fall spice that coats your palate as you take each sip. Overall it is refreshing and spicy with good finish and the right amount of bitterness.
