3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scrapersnbeer (977) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 2, 2012
Light toasty malt aroma. Cleat copper color. Earthy malt flavor sweetness approaching wheat beers, though not spicy in that way. Crisp, easy drinking body, nice and refreshing. Above average marzen beer, even amongst Bavarian examples.

#470

Pours a dark, transparent amber with a thin, white head that fades. Excellent lacing. Balanced, subtle aroma. Creamy, but somewhat thin mouthfeel. Taste is likewise balanced - a good, traditional Munich representative of the style. One of the best of its breed.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Jonb5 (235) - Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 19, 2012
Amber colour, fairly large thick head, clear. Aroma was some Munich style malt and also slightly grassy. Tasted Munich malt, cranberry, finish was long and wheaty, on the sweet side but balanced. Body was slightly thick, texture was smooth, moderate carbonation. Overall it was quite understated, didn’t think it was as in your face as other Munich Oktoberfest beers but it went down well.

Let’s face it, the Germans can brew up a marzen. This is so delicious. It looks beautiful when poured to a puffy head and a warm copper color. It is mildly from when it first hits the tongue through the finish. Definitely the best of the Oktoberfests I’ve tried this year.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 schoolofchuck (135) - Kansas, USA - NOV 14, 2012
Toasty oat aroma with some bread, barley and caramel. When the head fades away it really comes out. Dark brown transparent color with creamy white head. Very damp and earthy flavor. I really can’t compare it to anything. Not very sweet, not very bitter, but the flavor tastes a lot like it smells.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a moderate head on it. Slightly sweet nose to it. Taste is also sweet, but not overwhelmingly so.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bbbeer (411) - Massachusetts, USA - NOV 3, 2012
Amber orange with medium off white head. Aroma caramel, malty grain. Medium-light body. Off dry flavors, again caramel malts and slight crispness at finish. Unspectacular but decent and drinkable.

Wow! If all marzens tasted like this, I would certainly drink more of them. This is by far the best of this style I’ve had.

Poured from 330 ml bottle.
Clear, amber copper with a 3-finger head that settles quickly and sparse lacing.
Aroma of caramel, grain and bread.
Taste of sweet bready malt and light spicy hops.
Medium body and light carbonation.
