Mostly this seemed a bit flat. The flavor was a little too malty and it just didn’t have any crispness. Of course, it’s hard to say how it was handled, but it didn’t impress too much.

The 12 ounce bottle poured a beautiful clear orange-amber colored beverage with a modest smooth white head that was mostly diminishing but left good lacing on the glass. The aroma was a nice balance of malts and hops with an outstanding caramel character dominating with notes of honey and floral hops taking a back seat. The body was medium-full with soft carbonation and a smooth soft texture or mouthfeel. The flavor starts out somewhat sweet showing off the caramel. The sweetness lasts almost through the finish slowly being replaced by a light pleasant bitterness.

Pours a solid orange carmel color with a puffy head. Tastes of toffee and caramel and malt. Very smooth mouthfeel. Pretty good.

Rated 11/6/06: Lone sixer left on the shelves, marked down priced to sell. I felt bad for the little sixer and what I went there for was gone so I picked up figuring what the heck one last Oktoberfest for the season. Sweet bready light aroma with some loose change metallic scent. Wonderful initial pour medium bronze with a HUGE head that ultimately settles to very thin, some lacing remains on the rim. Easy on the gullet and rather drinkable, aftertaste is mellow. Flavor is grainy, grassy and dang there’s that metallic hint. Almost like a nickel was dropped in the glass. It’s an alright marzen, would be much better without the metallic hints, according to the bottle it’s only about 5 months old so it should still be fresh, just think it’s got a touch of the euro-transferitis.

A world class Oktoberfest-Marzen. Beautiful Hallertauer hop aroma with a carmelly malt nose interplays with each other. A smooth texture on first sip with a rich toasted malt flavor and just the right amount of hop bitterness. The amber/orange color makes it even more appetizing for a fall day.

Tap. Pours to a thin amber rust body with a thin white head. The aroma is milky and grainy with silage and corn. Corn husks. The flavor is husky and grainy and seems to have some lactose in it. The palate seems to be slightly metallic and too husky and astringent. Not a fan.

Bottled. A golden-orange beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of hops and caramel, as well as lighter notes of floweres and dust. The flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel.
