Lots of diacetyl, damp wood, overly sweet. This was cloying, and too thick and syrupy feeling. Based on the ratings, maybe it was a bad bottle, but I didn’t care for this.

Pours from the bottle an orangish-amber with a foam white one finger head that settles down into thick lacing. Medium carbonation, a few bubbles, but not overly fizzy. I smell bready malts & hints of toffee/vanilla. Malts and hops work together nicely in the flavor department. They tend to complement each other rather than trying to overpower each other. Nice medium mouthfeel, just a lingering bitterness on the swallow. Very well done!!!

Nice old-world German style Oktoberfest brew, a bit of hoppy-ness, but balanced well with other flavors

Clean finish! A little dry in the mouth compared to other fine Marzens. Malty beer yet not as big flavored as the others...sweet though. A nice drinking beer You can taste the smooth water from the alps

Bottled - St Albans BF - A deep bronze coloured beer. The aroma is typical Marzen with sweet malts although it is a little thin. The taste is clean, malty and fruity. Very easy to drink and well brewed although not wholly satisfying.

Bottle, St Albans Beer Festival 2005. Red/russet with beige head. Some good caramel, barley sugar aromas which carry on into the body of this beer. Quite drinkable. Bit too sweet but good spice/dry hop finish. Hop nose is quite subtle

Orangy amber with a sight white head, this brew has a pleasing bready/grain aroma. Malty throughout, but not heavy, its 5.8% alchohol content is well masked in the fine balance. Hop character is present but subdued.

Thick rocky white head, deep copor color. High maltiness, with hops only becoming prevalent mid bottle. Nice malty finish.

16.9 oz bottle. Produced on 02/05 stamped on bottom right corner of label
Pours out light amber with a small quickly disappearing tan head.
Aroma is caramel and sweet dough.
Body is flat
Flavor is sweet carmel, sugar, with a very light bittering finish. I expected better
Earlier Rating: 8/29/2004 Total Score: 3.2
pours a clear amber with a dense tan head. Aroma is sweet caramel and bananna. Flavor is roasty, slightly sweet, moderately bitter. sort of thin and lacks depth.
