CharlesDarwin (1824), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Sep 23, 2005 Clear orange amber pour, with clean white head. Lovely estered malt aroma. Caramel, wheat, bread, toffee, and those classic, yet impossible to corner Oktoberfest fruity notes that always remind me of this time of year. Finish is clingly sweet. A classic example. Sten (288), Westerlo, Belgium Sep 23, 2005 Amber coloured with a white head. A malty aroma. The taste is malty, sweet and a bit hoppy. (Bottle 50cl) jasonp (1504), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Sep 19, 2005 Nice clear copper with a thick off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel and grassy hops. Flavor has notes of toasted malt, toffee, caramel, bread, grassy hops and hints of dark fruit and smoke. Pleasantly sweet, moderately bitter. Good mouthfeel - medium/full with a very smooth, creamy texture and lively carbonation. Some lacing left on the glass, good head retention. Enjoyable. porterdude (170), Bellingham, Washington, USA Sep 19, 2005 Bottle. A nice copper colored pour. Aroma of toasted malts, and a sweet "woody" aroma. A nice toffe flavor with a good toasted malt and a slight biscuit? A very good oktoberfest in my opinion. clifford0163 (93), Maryland, USA Sep 18, 2005 one of the best oktoberfest beers out there. nice sweetness to it for an oktoberfest one that everyone should try robertjm (399), El Cerrito, California, USA Sep 18, 2005 Must’ve had a bad bottle. Virtually no carbonation. No head after 10 seconds. While I agree with kaggie about the resemblance in taste to a dopplebock, the bottle I had, had a funny taste to it. Not quite sure how to catagorize it. I’ll try it again just to be certain, but the 1.6 rating reflects the nasty bottle I had. KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Sep 16, 2005 On tap at JPs (?), at least the tap said so. Anyway, pours a hazy orange with a thin body. Aroma is sweet caramel and malt. Flavor is sweet like a dopplebock, but the weight is lighter than the aforementioned style. Heavy tones of sugar, mollasses, and malt, with a nice cotton candy finish. Palate is smooth and coating. This is a great beer, one that I hope to have over and over again. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Sep 14, 2005 Sark ornage body with a creamy, thick head. The aroma is toffee, oranges and some light tobacco. The taste is rather dry with oranges and some light caramel. There is also a toasty note of almonds. Finishes with a little bit of dry wheat. A decent oktoberfest, but I am guessing it is nicer when fresh.
